ROWESVILLE | [player_tooltip player_id='473021' first='Caden' last='Ramsey'] showed why he's one of the top seniors in the state and why South Carolina coveted him so much.

He touched the ball six times in the first half in the Cross 66-14 victory over Bethune-Bowman Friday night and he scored on four of those touches. And all six touches were something distinctly different.

By the time it ended, Ramsey had accounted for 28 points and while he played in the second half, he was more spectator than contributor as the Trojans are trying to win the Region 5-A title. He did have an interception in the end zone to halt one of the Mohawks second half drives.

“I didn't get many touches but I knew my teammates were going to show up and show out,” Ramsey said. “But I wanted to do something when my number was called. I was able to get what I could tonight and then it was next man up.”

Let's look at his opening two quarters.

Ramsey's first touch came on the third play of the game when he caught an easy 11-yard TD pass from [player_tooltip player_id='1819661' first='Tyler' last='Harris']. The second touch came when he made a one-handed catch going across the middle for a 16-yard gain.

The third touch might have been the most spectacular. He returned a kickoff 76 yards where he was hardly touched and went into the end zone with a convoy of blockers.

Ramsey then jumped over a defender and caught a pass along the Trojans sideline for a 21-yard gain on his fourth touch of the half. He didn't touch the ball again until Cross faced a fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line with he caught a fade pass in the back corner of the end zone.

The final touch of the first half was a 1-yard quarterback sneak where he lined up under center and scored easily to give the Trojans a 36-14 halftime lead.

Ramsey also converted two, two-point conversions in the half.

As Ramsey said, he wasn't the only standout for the Trojans. [player_tooltip player_id='1172364' first='Mah'ky' last='Green'] intercepted a pass on the third play of the game to get things rolling. Green came in as the Trojans leading rusher and he didn't have a carry until late in the second quarter. But he finished with 187 yards on 12 carries with TD runs of 56, 46 and five yards. Green has 993 yards this season.

“My performance could have been better even thought I score the three touchdowns,” Green said. “I love running behind our offensive line and they make what I do very easy. We're trying to four-peat for a region championship next week.”

Harris finished 9-of-11 for 146 yards passing and three touchdowns. He threw the 11 and 2-yarders to Ramsey and connected with Bernard Middleton on a 44-yard TD strike.

[player_tooltip player_id='1820226' first='Andrew' last='Mack'] had the final score on a three-yard run. [player_tooltip player_id='1639766' first='William' last='Grant'] played a solid game defensively and added 92 yards rushing on four carries.

The Trojans finished with 509 yards of total offense in a game that had a running clock in the fourth quarter. A lot of that success had to do with the guys up front. [player_tooltip player_id='1639807' first='Michael' last='Bennett'], [player_tooltip player_id='1422604' first='Jailyn' last='Broughton'], Gus Davis, Dakari President and Andrew Hocket paved the way up front for the impressive showing.

Bennett and Broughton also played most of the snaps on the defensive line and ended with a couple of tackles for loss and a couple of sacks.

“Our offensive line does a great job and I'm really pleased with them,” Cross coach Shaun Wright said. “We lost a lot of starters from last year and only have one senior on the line this year. As they go, we go. They take a lot of pride in doing what they do.”

Bethune-Bowman had a great effort from [player_tooltip player_id='1691901' first='Maurice' last='Dawson'] in the losing effort. The junior finished with nine catches for 114 yards, and he rushed it nine times for 67 yards. The Mowhawks finished with 46 yards rushing as a team. Dawson caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1691963' first='Jaedon' last='Bell'] and he scored on a 35-run in the first half.

Bell finished 14-of-30 for 161 yards and one touchdown and two interceptions.

Despite giving up over 500 yards on offense, linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1822055' first='Jahmiere' last='Cryer'] and defensive end [player_tooltip player_id='1825000' first='Terrance' last='McFadden'] had good performances.
