10. Sayville (Last Week, 8)

Sayville sits undefeated, so a drop seems unfair. St. Francis, and Archbishop Stepinac, picked up high wins, over tougher opponents propelling them ahead of the Long Island squad. The Golden Flashes sit at 4-0, and picked up a huge 62-14 win against Hauppauge in their last game. I like Sayville, but their level of competition comes into play, as the Monsignor Martin, and Catholic League play continues, making loses from the top teams more likely. Smithtown West, and Westhampton Beach are the next two matchups for the Golden Flashes, which should give us an accurate read on the 2025 squad.

9. Garden City (Last Week, 4)

Garden City has the longest undefeated streak in the state of New York, and #2 in the country. So why are the Trojans not a top five team? Level of competition. The Trojans are yet to play a game against a competitive opponent this season, and their toughest opponent from last year came in the championship against Sayville. This Garden City squad might be the best on Long Island, but in the state there are multiple teams who would beat them. Mepham, and Calhoun remain on the Trojans schedule, and have a shot to take down the Trojans this season, but time will tell.

8. Tottenville (Last Week, 6)

Tottenville and Curtis are fighting for the top spot in the PSAL league. I have Curtis at #11 in my rankings, with the Pirates sitting in the top ten with an undefeated record, and many impressive wins this season. Two weeks ago, we saw the Pirates take down Erasmus Hall, and add their name to the top ten. This past week they blew out Wagner 42-7. Lincoln, Eagle Academy II, and Curtis remain on the schedule, and these games will decide the top team in the PSAL. Tottenville drops due to the impressive performances from St. Francis, and Archbishop Stepinac.

7. St. Francis (Last Week, 10)

St. Francis plays one of the toughest schedules from a team outside the Catholic League. The Red Raiders, sit at 4-1, on the season playing against teams from Ohio, PA, Canada, and the New England region. This past week they opened Monsignor Martin play, against St. Joseph Collegiate. The Red Raiders dominated this game against a quality opponent in SJCI. With the final score reading 35-0, I move this St. Francis squad up the board, to #7 due to their quality wins on the year and their 4-1 record through a tricky schedule. Games against Bishop Timon St. Jude, and Canisius will decide the top team in Monsignor Martin.

6. Archbishop Stepinac (Last Week, 9)

Last season, the Crusaders finished 1-10, with a disappointing season. This season, they are the first of three Catholic League squads in my top ten. Stepinac has had a roller coaster of a season, with good wins, and ugly losses. Through six games, the Crusaders sit at 4-2 on the year, and 1-1 against League opponents. In a close game, Coach Magee, and his squad pulled out ahead over a tough Cardinal Hayes team, propelling the Crusaders up the list. The Crusaders have St. Anthony's and Iona Prep later in the season, and both games will showcase the true talent of Coach Magee's squad.
