4A Washington Mid Season All State- 1st/2nd Team "D"

The Midseason All State Offense and Defense is done in collaboration with Andrew Nemec. This is NOT just a recruiting-based list although most of the individuals listed are ranked among the top athletes in their respective regions. As with most all state lists, team success is a heavy factor in whether or not an individual is selected. Have a look at the breakdown summarizing the Washington 4A team.          *Please note there will be extended 1st & 2nd team selections in lieu of 3rd team or honorable mention picks.          DEFENSIVE SUMMARY:  Starting on the D line the state's #1 recruit [player_tooltip player_id='402789' first='Derek' last='Colman-Brusa'] will likely be a Sunday guy. Lake Stevens has a pair of defenders up front who have been causing problems for offense's all season in [player_tooltip player_id='1188123' first='Ty' last='Tautolo'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1969812' first='Keegan' last='Brown']. The 3* Tautolo has offers from the likes of Notre Dame and Oregon with Brown putting up some unreal numbers and accounting for 20 tackles for loss and 7 sacks.    [player_tooltip player_id='1544388' first='Shaun' last='Griffith'] returns as the reigning conference D lineman of the year with the 6-3 230-pound [player_tooltip player_id='1599654' first='Braydon' last='Cook'] listed among the region's sacks leaders. [player_tooltip player_id='584671' first='Julius' last='Hernandez-Avila'] of GK transferred from 1A Life Christian Academy and has shown that he could be dominate regardless of the classification level, averaging 5 tackles per game with 2 sacks and 2 TFL's on the year thus far.    The LB's are legit across the board with [player_tooltip player_id='1188110' first='Michael' last='Pulalasi'] being a WA POY favorite as of right now. He is leading Puyallup with close to 8 tackles per game and 6 TFL's on the season. [player_tooltip player_id='1655930' first='Ramzak' last='Fruean'] is a vicious hitter and the only player in the state to earn 1st team honors on both sides of the ball. Richland's [player_tooltip player_id='1691667' first='Sylen' last='Kiesel-Kauhane'] has continued his off-season tear, averaging close to 9 tackles per game for the Bombers.    Idaho St got maybe the steal of the year thus far with a commitment from 6-4 reigning GSL Defensive POY [player_tooltip player_id='1589190' first='Garrett' last='Miller'] of Mead. Sumner's [player_tooltip player_id='1165398' first='Austin' last='Glivar'] is a 2x 1st team all-conference selection and has been high on my rankings board from the beginning. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1368341' first='Derick' last='Manibusan'] of GK continues to be statistically elite, averaging 8.6 tackles per game with 5 TFL's. Other underclassmen to make note of include Mount Si teammates Drenden Knaevlsrud and [player_tooltip player_id='1555731' first='Jason' last='Armbruster']. The rangy 6-4 duo has put up some of the best numbers in the region for a (3-4) Wildcats team that relies heavily on them.    A lot of familiar names represent in the secondary with Puyallup continuing to kill it. 3* CB [player_tooltip player_id='726165' first='Jasiah' last='Denmark'] leads the team in INT's and will be a Big Sky All American if he ends up at Sacramento St. [player_tooltip player_id='1165415' first='Jayden' last='Woodland'] is one of the top two-way threats in the region and will make a big jump up the rankings board when updated. 2028 standout [player_tooltip player_id='984781' first='Markel' last='Newell'] is ranked one of the top 3 overall prospects in the entire state, currently sitting with 27 total tackles, 3 TFL's, and 2 INTs on the year.    3* Eastern Washington commit [player_tooltip player_id='726174' first='Israel' last='Nabors'] is another all-state two-way athlete, who I could see garnering some additional offers from other Mid Major/ Pac 12 universities late in the recruiting process. [player_tooltip player_id='1589218' first='Jack' last='Pierce'] of Gonzaga Prep has had maybe the best season of any DB statewide, making 33 tackles with 3 INT's, 4 PBU's, and 7 tackles for loss. He also has 2 TD's and is an elite return man. His teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1589207' first='Jacobe' last='McClelland'] is a D1 guy and one of only 4 underclassmen to earn all-state honors last year. No one will throw at him.    Last but not least 6-4 safety [player_tooltip player_id='1906025' first='Dylan' last='Phinney'] of Lake Stevens who is a big reason the Vikings are 7-0.
