2025 Prep RedZone Player of the Year: The Semifinalists
In this article:
Prep RedZone South Carolina has established itself as the most comprehensive football site in the state. We've got the biggest staff, and we see more players and games than any other outlet.
This season, we're going to continue using all that knowledge to hand out some hardware.
The road to the second annual Prep RedZone South Carolina Player of the Year didn't start with the release of our 30 semifinalists. This is a season-long process of evaluating players, talking to them and their coaches, asking opposing coaches their opinions and breaking down film galore. Much like last year, when Westside's Cutter Woods won the inaugural honor, the staff wasn't blindly throwing darts.
The conversations and debates around players and their positions took time. It took consideration. It took common sense.
We are the first to admit that some extremely gifted players didn't make this list. Cuts to our top 30 weren't easy in this talent-rich state.
Prep RedZone targeted players who have taken over games. We wanted to see guys who had a major impact in the highest-profile contests. We wanted to pinpoint those who could dominate.
What that led to was a collection of stars who helped propel their respective teams to impressive regular-season finishes. Every player on our list is playoff bound, many of them with extremely favorable seeding.
That means the next step in this process won't be easy, either.
On Monday, December 1 - prior to the Weekend of Champions - we'll factor in what we've seen during the first four rounds of the postseason and weigh that against the regular-season body of work. We'll then trim this list down to the 10 finalists.
The South Carolina Player of the Year award will then be announced the week after the state championship games in conjunction with our annual Fab 50 team.
Without further ado, here are our 30 semifinalists.
