John Curtis led for nearly three quarters before having to battle its way through what coach J.T. Curtis called a classic Catholic League game and find late plays to rise through a back-and-forth final period.

Warren Easton kept close enough to come back and take a lead heading into the fourth where the Eagles continued to have further answers.

But the Patriots managed the final touchdown and then finally another stop to survive with a 33-29 victory and remain undefeated.

The senior running back put John Curtis on the board early and showcased his combination of vision, speed, quickness and balance on a few of the team's biggest plays of the game, including a near-breakaway run into the red zone to end the first quarter and a dipping, jump-cutting dance to the goal line to set up a second-quarter score. A few different Patriots had success running the ball, but Boudreaux set the table.

Colin Gonsulin — 6-0, 240 OL — John Curtis (2026)

The Patriots had success moving the ball throughout the contest, particularly effectively between the tackles early on and setting up big runs to the outside late. Several of the biggest inside runs came right behind their senior center, getting upfield and moving defenders to pave lanes to explosive gains.

The Patriots swarmed to the ball, particularly during the early going to contain the Eagles to a slow start, and had a slew of physical defensive backs stand out with their willingness and effectiveness as tacklers in space. Ranked prospects [player_tooltip player_id='1782867' first='Prentice' last='Mackyeon Jr.'] (2027) and [player_tooltip player_id='1619779' first='Jaden' last='Keelen'] (2028) were among the eye-catchers in that regard, as were a couple of new names to know for the junior class.

Gavin Ledet — 5-7, 165 RB — John Curtis (2026)

The senior running back had two of the more pivotal John Curtis plays going each direction: an early corral of the Warren Easton punter to set up a short field and a Boudreaux touchdown and then an 83-yard, go-ahead touchdown dash of his own in the fourth quarter on which he took at outside pitch, made a defender miss and way gone winding to the end zone.

[player_tooltip player_id='1848454' first='London' last='Padgett'] — 5-11, 165 QB — John Curtis (2028)

The sophomore quarterback scored a pair of first-half touchdowns — an 88-yard breakaway and a goal-line effort through contact — and operated the offense with poise and efficiency even as the game got dicey and back-and-forth late. Padgett also showed some capable passing ability at times, including a pair of well-thrown potential scores: one that was bobbled away for an interception, and another called back on a penalty.

Bryce Carter — DB — Warren Easton (2026)

The senior had one of the defensive highlights of the night with his awareness and ball skills to snatch a bobbled potential touchdown in the back corner of the end zone for an interception that kept the margin at one score and provided the Eagles some spark before halftime.

[player_tooltip player_id='920690' first='Marcus' last='Jasmin'] — 6-2, 230 EDGE/DL — Warren Easton (2026)

The Eagles' defensive effort was also highlighted by a few disruptive plays behind the line of scrimmage throughout the contest, with the senior edge rusher among the primary catalysts with his burst out of his stance and his explosive arrival to ball-carriers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1238192' first='Carl' last='Reed Jr.'] — 5-10, 150 QB — Warren Easton (2026)

John Curtis coach J.T. Curtis praised Warren Easton's senior quarterback after the game as one of the reasons he knew the Eagles would be difficult to contain for a full four quarters. Reed provided big-play sparks with his legs early and often, including the team's first and last touchdowns and other highlights in between. And his performance as a passer was highlighted by a beautiful strike to [player_tooltip player_id='1361253' first='Davon' last='Edwards'] in the back of the end zone for a third-quarter touchdown.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237763' first='Thomas' last='Vaughn'] — 5-9, 170 RB — Warren Easton (2026)

and Terrell Surtain — 5-10, 170 RB — Warren Easton (2026)

The Eagles' running back duo each joined their dynamic quarterback in going over the 100-yard mark each, slicing their way to more and big gains as the game wore on and managing to turn the second-half into a bit of a track meet for a stretch. Surtain found the end zone for one score, and both he and Vaughn were critical in moving drives to set up others.
