What Defensive Prospects Made Their Mark in Week 4?

Prep Redzone dived into the film from week 4 and these were some of the eye catchers from what we saw on the defensive side of the ball!   DL [player_tooltip player_id='1052814' first='Kameron' last='McGee'] (Brother Rice – 2028)   The truly elite 2028 talent showed out against Loyola with his power and speed combination off the edge.  He made a quick inside move for a sack.  Another time he came around the corner for another sack.  Batted down a pass.  He also had multiple TFLs.  Super star talent!   DL [player_tooltip player_id='1883430' first='Bryce' last='Baxa'] (Yorkville – 2028)   Young defensive lineman at 6'2” 280 pounds.  Good athlete that does a nice job of getting off blocks to make tackles in the backfield.  Three technique defensive tackle with quickness and a frame to continue to grow.   DL [player_tooltip player_id='1549620' first='Blake' last='Pohlman'] (Montini – 2029)   This freshman 6'3” 215 pound defensive end is definitely one to watch long term.  Sets the edge and uses his hands to get off blocks.  A lot of physical tools to be a player to watch long term as he is a good athlete with size.   DL R'Mon George (Oak Lawn – 2027)   George is an edge player that shows nice bend getting around the tackle.  Burst off the ball on his first step.  Also made a big play around the line of scrimmage.   DL [player_tooltip player_id='1352301' first='Dominic' last='Jackson'] (Crete Monee – 2027)   Jackson went up against Thornwood in week 4 and the defensive lineman impressed. Such quickness off the ball getting in the backfield putting pressure on the QB along with getting TFL. Burst off the snap. Also caught a TD on the offensive side at the goal line.   DL [player_tooltip player_id='1184797' first='Tanner' last='Jacobs'] (Maroa Forsyth – 2026)   Jacobs is a defensive tackle that plays with a high motor.  Gets up field to make plays in the run game.  As a guard on the offensive side he shows mobility and athleticism opening holes.   DL Noah Crandall (Harlem – 2027)   Crandall is a 6'2” 235 pound defensive end.  First play of his tape from this week is him pushing the right tackle to ground with his hands then getting a sack.  Snap in his hands for sure.  He is a good pass rusher that is explosive off the snap.  Racked up an array of sacks in this game chasing the QB all over the field.   LB Ethan Albertson (Huntley – 2027)   Flies down the field making plays in the kick return game.  As a linebacker he diagnoses plays well in the run game flowing to the ball to make the tackle.  Sheds blocks.  Core special teams guy.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='1743262' first='Kobe' last='Lewis'] (Ridgewood – 2027)   The 5'9” linebacker is a tough defender that plays with instincts and really finds the ball carrier very well.  Runs well sideline to sideline.   DB Ashton Williams (Phillips – 2026)   Williams is a fluid corner that has nice footwork.  Makes plays on the ball downfield.  Form tackler on the outside in space.  Smooth back pedal and reacts well to the play.   DB [player_tooltip player_id='1585119' first='Nick' last='Hankins'] (Belleville West – 2026)   The Illinois commit is the top ranked defensive back in the class.  He is a two way player for Belleville West.  Shows off his speed, athleticism, and game changing ability as a receiver taking swing passes and going to the house.  He has easy acceleration and speed downfield.  Broke up one of the few passes thrown his way on a deep ball along with shielding off the receiver on another.  Took it to the house on a kick off.   DB Denzel James (Hinsdale South – 2026)   The 6'0” press corner with good length does a nice job in coverage and flies to the ball making tackles.   DB Brady Jarvis (Hononegah – 2026)   Explosive kick returner taking one back to the house.  Explodes to the ball to make tackle.  Burst to the offensive player.  Can play as a centerfielder as a free safety.    DB [player_tooltip player_id='1663338' first='Kenyia' last='Benbow'] (Simeon – 2026)   The corner snatched the ball right out of the receivers grasp then took it the other way for a pick 6.  Wraps up tackling down low.  Can play physical at the line in press coverage.  On the offensive side he is slippery with the ball in his hands after the catch.  Tracks the ball well downfield.    DB Jakub Maka (Lemont – 2026)   Maka made one heck of a play running vertically at an angle after a receiver and proceeded to rip the ball right out of his hands after the offensive player made the catch.  Also pursued a scrambling quarterback for a strip sack and recovered fumble.  Flies to the ball and makes tackles in the open field.
