JONES (2-0) AT BETHANY (1-0)

The Jones Longhorns are looking like a serious state title contender in Class 2A-1 as they've jumped out to a 2-0 start and have looked dominant while doing so. Now, they get their biggest test of the non-district schedule as they travel to face a 4A top ten team in Bethany. The Bronchos are 1-0 on the season after winning in week zero but they had last week off. These two teams have met in each of the last five seasons and it's been a very competitive non-district series. Bethany got the best of the Longhorns last season, with a 36-29 victory. But the Longhorns look to wrap non-district play with another statement win, sending a message to the rest of Class 2A-1.

LAWTON (2-0) AT LAWTON MACARTHUR (1-1)

The city championship is on the line as Lawton MacArthur will square off with Lawton High Friday night. Both teams are off to solid starts as the Wolverines are 2-0 and look like a team that we need to start taking very seriously in Class 5A. For the Highlanders, they lost to defending 4A champion Elgin in the season opener and bounced back with a major win over Lawton Eisenhower last week. Both teams are looking to use Friday's game as a catapult going into district play. As we've said a few times already this season, Class 5A feels like it's more wide open this season and both the Highlanders and Wolverines want to be in that state title mix when November rolls around.

METRO CHRISTIAN (1-0) AT CASCIA HALL (1-1)

It's one of the top games in the Tulsa area on Friday night as Cascia Hall will host Metro Christian in a match-up of top ten teams in Classes 3A and 2A-1 respectively. Both teams come into this season with high-powered passing attacks so it wouldn't be surprising to see the scoreboard get lit up on Friday night. The Commandos are playing with a lot of momentum after bouncing back from a rivalry loss to Holland Hall by beating defending A-1 champion Rejoice Christian. Last season, Metro Christian beat the Commandos 21-14 in the first regular season meeting between these two teams in two decades. Metro is 1-0 on the year but this will be their first true test of 2025.

MUSTANG (1-0) AT BROKEN ARROW (1-1)

This is certainly one of the games of the week as Broken Arrow hosts Mustang in a match-up featuring top five teams in Class 6A-1. Both teams look completely different from last season, when they met in Mustang and the Broncos prevailed 49-48 in an instant classic that went to overtime. Broken Arrow has a new head coach and several new faces on both sides of the ball. Mustang might have the most new faces (at least in the starting lineup) of any team in the state this season. Both teams look like dark horse state championship contenders but we'll know more after they go head to head. Mustang is 1-0 after beating Yukon while BA is 1-1 after back to back trips to NW Arkansas.

PAWHUSKA (2-0) AT HOMINY (1-0)

What a rivalry clash we have in northern Oklahoma as Hominy hosts Pawhuska Friday night. Both teams have been dominant to start the 2025 football season. Hominy is a top five team in Class A-2 while Pawhuska is a top five team in Class A-1. It's clear to us that both teams are legitimate state championship contenders this season but neither are thinking about December this week. They're looking to get a big win on Friday night against the rival. Both teams are headlined by outstanding quarterbacks that can lead their teams to wins Friday and beyond. Pawhuska beat Hominy 46-24 last season, snapping a two-game losing streak to rival Hominy.

PERKINS-TRYON (1-0) AT CUSHING (1-1)

This week is full of rivalry clashes and we have another one here as 4A's Cushing will host 3A's Perkins-Tryon in a match-up featuring top ten teams. The Demons dominated their season opener last week but this week's game is certainly going to be the biggest test on the non-district slate. Cushing is 1-1 and is looking to bounce back after letting one slip away against Bristow last week. At one point, they led 31-14 but were outscored 21-0. Cushing is looking to not only bounce back but get some momentum heading into district play, a district where they can win big. Cushing has dominated this series lately, winning four of the last five meetings, including last year's 23-13 win.

SAND SPRINGS (0-1) AT OWASSO (0-2)

The Sandite non-district gauntlet continues this week as Sand Springs heads up to Owasso to face the Rams. After facing 6A-1's top-ranked Bixby to open the season, the Sandites will go into the fire again against a top five team with Owasso. And the Rams are going to come out Friday with a hunger to take out some frustrations. The Rams are 0-2 after losses to Bixby and Jenks and that Jenks loss was a tough pill to swallow after they led by a couple touchdowns in the second quarter. This is also a great quarterback match-up Friday night. The Sandites have one of the top 2026 quarterbacks in the state while the Rams counter with one of the top 2027 signal callers in the state.

SULPHUR (1-0) AT DAVIS (1-0)

What does Sulphur get after beating defending 2A-1 champ Washington and snapping their 45-game winning streak? A little Murray County War as they travel to face defending 2A-2 champion Davis Friday night. After last week, the Bulldogs have a ton of momentum as they head into this clash with the Wolves. Davis opened their season with a dominant win in week one so both teams look like they are playing at their best to open the 2025 football season. Sulphur took care of the Wolves 42-7 in last season's match-up. For Davis, they are desperate to turn things around in this series. They've lost eight of the last nine. Both teams are major state title contenders in their respective classes.

UNION (0-2) AT JENKS (2-0)

It's the annual Backyard Bowl as Jenks hosts Union and this is a match-up with two teams going in opposite directions as we kick off the 2025 season. Union has dropped their first two games, including a blowout loss at home to Stillwater. For Jenks, they are 2-0 on the season and that's headlined by a comeback road victory over Owasso last week. On paper, the Trojans look like the heavy favorite to take this year's edition of the Backyard Bowl but if you've followed this rivalry over the last few decades, you know what we know. Expect the unexpected. Just when you think you know what's going to happen when these two clash, something crazy happens.

VIAN (1-0) AT KIEFER (1-1)

It's a battle of top ten teams from 2A-1 and 2A-2 as Kiefer hosts Vian. The Wolverines are coming off a dominant win over Eufaula last week while the Trojans come into this week after losing to Jones in week one. Vian took care of business last season, winning 45-14 as they would dominate everyone on their way to making it to the Class 2A-2 state championship game. On the other side you have a Kiefer team that was extremely young in 2024. They have a lot of their starters back and have the potential to make another run in Class 2A-1 this fall. The Trojans look to get a big win to wrap up non-district play while Vian still has another big test in week three.
