BERRYHILL 31, FORT GIBSON 30

Berryhill knocked off Fort Gibson 31-30 and the Chiefs have had quite the start to the season. They've lost by a single point and now they've won by a single point. Fort Gibson scored with a little over a minute left but opted for the go-ahead two point conversion and came up short. Berryhill held onto that 31-30 lead but Fort Gibson had a few different tries in the final seconds to steal the win but the Chiefs held on for the win. It's been a chaotic start to the year for a top ten 3A squad. Now, they shift their focus to a non-district finale against Bristow, that just knocked off Cushing and has a lot of momentum.

BISHOP McGUINNESS 22, BISHOP KELLEY 17

The annual rivalry game between Bishop Kelley and Bishop McGuinness have had some wild outcomes over the last few decades and there was another chapter written on Friday night in Oklahoma City. Bishop McGuinness continued their streak against the rival Comets, winning 22-17. But heading into the third quarter, it looked like the Comets would end their losing streak. Bishop Kelley led 17-0 and McGuinness had struggled offensively all night. But it was special teams that ended up turning things around. Despite losing 17-0, within the blink of an eye, it was 17-16 and the Irish finished the job, outscoring Kelley 22-0 in the final quarter.

BIXBY 56, SAND SPRINGS 7

Sand Springs is one of the top contenders in Class 6A-2. Bixby might have the best team in program history. The Spartans showed that routine dominance that we've grown accustomed to seeing over the last decade. They beat the Sandites on the road 56-7 and at the end of the first quarter, they led 28-0. The Sandites were fighting an uphill battle from the start. They'll be just fine in the 6A-2 championship chase. They just ran into a Bixby team that, from a pure talent perspective, might be the best team that we've seen. The Spartans had game-changing plays on defense, an efficient offense and played a flawless game.

BRISTOW 35, CUSHING 31

Bristow opened their 2025 campaign with quite the statement on Friday night. The Pirates took down a 4A top ten team in Cushing in week one. Bristow beat the Tigers 35-31 on Friday night. One week after getting a close win over Berryhill, Cushing walked away with a close loss to Bristow. Things didn't look good for the Pirates as they trailed 31-14 in the second quarter. But behind a two-headed monster in the run game and obviously a strong defensive effort, Bristow outscored the Tigers 21-0 to get their first win of the season. Bristow now faces another 3A top ten team in Berryhill while Cushing faces rival Perkins-Tryon.

CASCIA HALL 21, REJOICE CHRISTIAN 14

Cascia Hall was determined to bounce back following a 21-point loss in week zero to rival Holland Hall. But it was going to be tough as they had to go on the road to take on a talented defending champion in Rejoice Christian. However, the Eagles were not at 100 percent and the Cascia Hall defense looked like the vintage defenses that led the Commandos to state championships nearly two decades ago. Cascia Hall knocked off the Eagles 21-14 on Friday night and that gives them a ton of momentum as they head into week two, where they will host a 2A-1 top five team in Metro Christian and that game could turn into a high-scoring affair.

CASHION 27, VELMA-ALMA 26 (2OT)

In a match-up of top ten teams in Class A-1 and Class A-2, it certainly lived up to the competitive hype with Cashion beating Velma-Alma on the road 27-26 in double overtime. Velma-Alma limited Cashion's opportunities on the offensive side of the ball as they controlled the time of possession behind a consistent rushing attack. In the second overtime, Velma-Alma struck first but could not get the conversion attempt. Cashion would respond with a touchdown to tie the game at 26. The Wildcats would boot the game-winning PAT and improved to 2-0 on the season. They look like a serious contender in Class A-1.

DEL CITY 38, BOOKER T WASHINGTON 7

It was a major bounce back victory and quite the statement to the rest of Class 5A as Del City beat down Booker T Washington 38-7. The Eagles opened the season with a 35-0 loss to Edmond Memorial in week zero. They came back with a major win at home, led by dominant defense and special plays in the special teams department. As the Eagles continue to find their identity on the offensive side of the ball, they relied on a strong defense and the playmakers they have on special teams. In a match-up featuring top three teams in Class 5A, Del City was absolutely dominant over the Hornets, who dropped to 1-1 on the season.

FAIRVIEW 23, KINGSTON 21

Fairview continues to prove us wrong as they've opened the 2025 season with back to back wins over ranked teams in Class 2A-2 and now Class 2A-1. The Yellowjackets beat Kingston 23-21 on Friday night and for the second straight season, this match-up came down to the final minute. Last season, Fairview stunned Kingston in the final minute. This season, they trailed 21-20 and the Yellowjackets stunned the Redskins on a field goal as time expired. They've now improved to 2-0 on the season and it's crystal clear at this point that they aren't taking any kind of step back and they expect to contend once again in Class A-1.

FAYETTEVILLE, AR. 18, BROKEN ARROW 17 (OT)

For the second straight week, Broken Arrow faced a northwest Arkansas opponent but they came up short this week, falling 18-17 in overtime. They game was tied at 10 heading into the fourth quarter and it was a scoreless stalemate in the final frame. The Tigers scored first in overtime and went up 17-10. The Bulldogs responded with a touchdown but they were going to kick the extra point to send it to a second overtime. But a Broken Arrow penalty put the ball inside the 2-yard line and the Bulldogs decided to go for the win. They got into the end zone and sent the Tigers home with their first loss of the season.

JENKS 31, OWASSO 21

Jenks went on the road and rallied to beat Owasso 31-21, handing the Rams their second straight loss while Jenks opens the season at 2-0. The Trojans trailed 21-7 late in the second quarter but Owasso opened the door on a comeback when they attempted a fake punt in their own territory. It came up short and the Trojans took advantage, scoring to make it 21-14 before halftime. They scored again to open the second half and overall, they outscored Owasso 24-0 after the fake punt. Jenks now shifts their focus to the annual rivalry game with Union while Owasso looks to avoid an 0-3 start when they face Sand Springs.

LINCOLN CHRISTIAN 35, HERITAGE HALL 6

Despite winning six straight in the series against Heritage Hall, Lincoln Christian had struggled at the start in the last several meetings. There was no struggle on Friday night. As the Chargers made a rare trip to Tulsa during the regular season, Lincoln Christian sent their 3A rivals back to Oklahoma City with a 35-6 loss. After shutting out Clinton last week, Heritage Hall could not stop the two-headed monster at running back for Lincoln Christian. The Bulldogs made quite the statement to the rest of Class 3A on Friday night but after watching Sulphur, those two might be on a crash course for a 3A title rematch in December.

NORMAN 19, NORMAN NORTH 13

There haven't been many Crosstown Clashes bigger than Friday's as it was the season opener for both teams and the first on-campus home game for Norman North. Rival Norman played spoiler, beating the Timberwolves 19-13 on Friday night. The Tigers were backed by a solid defensive effort and an offense that would strike with some big plays to score enough to get the win. Norman was one of the surprise teams of the 2024 season, becoming one of the best west side teams in Class 6A-1. They've gotten off to a strong start in 2025. Norman North lost their star receiver after he was ejected from the game late in the third quarter.

PAWNEE 34, WOODLAND 20

Woodland went wire to wire as Class A-2's top team in 2024, all the way to a perfect season and state championship. There will be no perfect season in 2025 as the defending champs opened their 2025 season with a 34-20 loss to Pawnee. The Black Bears are off to a solid start and will definitely be a team to watch in Class A-1. Behind a strong rushing attack, Pawnee ran up and down the field and knocked off the defending champs. Woodland lost a special senior class that was critical to their run to a state championship a year ago. The Cougars will continue to be tested while the Black Bears have a lot of momentum right now.

STILLWATER 41, UNION 15

Last season, Stillwater stunned Union in overtime. This year, they stunned the Redhawks in another way. They came to Tulsa and dismantled Union 41-15, behind a relentless rushing attack and a sophomore quarterback who was making his first career start. We knew the Stillwater offensive line had the potential to be special this season but they've backed up all the preseason hype with a dominant performance in week one. The Pioneers look every bit of the state title contender that we previewed during the offseason. For Union, they are trending in the wrong direction to kick off the season. They look to avoid an 0-3 start at Jenks Friday.

TUTTLE 35, NEWCASTLE 7

Tuttle opened the season this year against the 5A runner up and a 5A semifinalist from last season. They dominated both match-ups, winning both by 20+ points. It's clear that last year's 4A runner up expects to make it back to the state championship game in December and they have their sights set on that gold ball. Tuttle knocked off rival Newcastle 35-7. These two programs are close to one another but the rivalry has been completely one-sided, in favor of the Tigers. This season was no different as Tuttle continued their rivalry dominance. Newcastle is going to be just fine. They just ran into a Tuttle buzzsaw Friday.
