Week 4 - IMG Academy Still The Top Team

As we have watched so far in the first three weeks of the 2025 high school football season here in Florida, things will be ever-changing when it comes to ranking teams.   Challenging schedules will ensure that teams will move up and down – and as impressive matchups loom nearly every week – nothing will be for sure.   As you will see, teams move up and down, and while you want to give the past champions their respect, if they lose, they will move down – with a chance to finish on top by the end of the season.   We have always rewarded programs for winning, and while many have a problem with moving “lesser” teams ahead in the rankings, everything will play out by the end of the season. They always do and this year will be no exception, but you cannot penalize a team for winning!   Here is a look at this week's top programs:   1 Bradenton IMG Academy (Independent, 2-0). The Ascenders had a bye. THIS WEEK: 9/13 - @Henderson Coronado, Nevada. NEXT WEEK: 9/19  - @Jacksonville Mandarin.   2. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (5A, 2-1). The Raiders beat Miam Christopher Columbus for the second straight year, 42-7. THIS WEEK: 9/12 – Davie Western. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 - @Hollywood McArthur.   3. Miami Northwestern (3A, 1-1). The Bulls came up with an impressive 37-6 win against Miami Carol City. THIS WEEK: 9/12 – No. 23 Miami Norland. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 - @Miami Christopher Columbus.   4. Miami Central (3A, 2-0). The Rockets rolled to a 58-14 win against Miami Booker T. Washington. THIS WEEK: 9/12 – Pompano Beach. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 - @ No. 11 Plantation American Heritage.   5. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1A, 2-1). The Lions came from behind late in the game to beat No. 11 Plantation American Heritage, 28-24. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Miami Edison. NEXT WEEK: Bye.   6. Seffner Armwood (6A, 3-0). The Hawks showed why they are indeed one of the best teams in the state with a convincing 28-7 win over No. 18 Tampa Bay Tech. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Plant City Durant. THIS WEEK: 9/19 – Tampa Hillsborough.   7. Jacksonville Raines (3A, 2-0). The Vikings flexed some muscle in beating Jacksonville Trinity Christian, 48-14. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @No. 22 Lake Mary. THIS WEEK: Bye.   8. Miami Southridge (6A, 2-0). The Spartans raced out to a big lead and held on for a 34-24 win against Miami Palmetto. THIS WEEK: 9/13 - @Hialeah. NEXT WEEK: 9/18 – Doral Academy.   9. Orlando Edgewater (5A, 3-0). The Eagles continue to play sound football, beating Orlando Freedom, 48-0/ THIS WEEK: 9/12 – No. 13 Orlando Jones. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 - @Apopka.   10. Vero Beach (7A, 3-0). Could this be the year that the Indians turn the corner. After a dominating 38-3 win over three-time defending state champion Cocoa, it's hard to argue how solid they are. THIS WEEK: 9/12 – Port St. Lucie Centennial. NEXT WEEK: Bye.   11. Plantation American Heritage (4A, 1-1). The defending 4A state champion Patriots dropped a heart breaker against No. 5 Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, 28-24. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @New Orleans Edna Karr, Louisiana. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 – No. 4 Miami Central.   12. West Boca Raton (6A, 1-1). The defending 6A state champions dropped a tough 21-14 decision against national power Bergen Catholic of New Jersey. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Loxahatchee Seminole Ridge. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 - @Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast.   13. Orlando Jones (4A, 2-1). After two straight shutouts to start the season, the defending 4A state runner ups were stunned by Orlando Evans,  28-25. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @ No. 9 Orlando Edgewater. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 – Kissimmee Osceola.   14. Lakeland (5A, 2-1). The Dreadnaughts rebounded from their loss in California with a 32-13 win against No. 24 Lake Mary. THIS WEEK: Bye. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 – Miami Booker T. Washington.   15. Saint Augustine (4A, 3-0). The Yellow Jackets flexed some muscle and showed why they will be a force this season, beating previously unbeaten No. 16 Jacksonville Bolles, 40-35. NEXT WEEK: 9/12 - @Jacksonville Riverside. THIS WEEK: 9/19 - @ No. 27 Ponte Vedra Nease.   16. Jacksonville Bolles (2A, 2-1). The Bulldogs dropped a tough game to No. 15 Saint Augustine, 40-35. rolled to a 35-12 win against rival Jacksonville Trinity Christian. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Jacksonville Bishop Kenny. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 - @Orange Park Oakleaf.   17. Sarasota Cardinal Mooney (2A, 2-1). The Cougars got back on the winning track with a 39-3 victory against Rockledge. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Tampa Berkeley Prep. NEXT WEEK: Bye.   18. Tampa Bay Tech (5A, 2-1). The Titans found the loss column for the first time this season, losing to No. 6 Seffner Armwood, 28-7. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Tampa Plant. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 – Tampa Gaither.   19. Venice (7A, 1-1). The defending state champions won their first game of the year, 27-12 against Fort Myers Bishop Verot. THIS WEEK: 9/12 – No. 27 Port Charlotte. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 – No. 21 Orlando The First Academy.   20. Clearwater Central Catholic (1A, 3-0). The Marauders remained unbeaten with a 49-7 win against Tampa Catholic. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Clearwater. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 – Havana Gadsden County.   21. Orlando The First Academy (Independent,1-2). The Royals picked up their first win of the season against Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast, 57-7. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Eau Gallie. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 - @ No. 19 Venice.   22. Lake Mary (7A, 2-1). The Panthers entered the Top 30 with a convincing 47-10 win against previously unbeaten and state rated Tallahassee Lincoln. THIS WEEK: 9/12 - @Neptune Beach Fletcher. NEXT WEEK: 9/19 – Fort Walton Beach Choctawhatchee.   29. Port Charlotte (4A, 3-0). The Pirates remained unbeaten and moved into the Top 30 with a convincing 49-13 win against Lehigh.
