<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1358093' first='Mariano' last='Velasco'], DB, Oswego (2026)</strong><br>Velasco came up with one of the highlight plays of the weekend when he jumped a route and returned an interception for a touchdown. His ability to recognize what the quarterback wants to do and then turn defense into offense is rare. That play completely shifted momentum, and it's another example of why he's quickly becoming one of the most dangerous defensive backs in Illinois.</p>

<p><strong>Foley Calcagno, LB, IC Catholic Prep (2026)</strong><br>Calcagno played with his usual intensity, racking up tackles and clogging running lanes against St. Ignatius. He diagnoses plays in a hurry and arrives at the ball carrier with authority. His nonstop motor sets the tone for IC Catholic, and he continues to be the kind of linebacker you build a defense around.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='279386' first='Tommy' last='Thies'], DB, Fenwick (2026)</strong><br>Thies delivered a timely interception in a rivalry matchup that proved to be a turning point. His confidence in coverage and quick break on the football give Fenwick a reliable playmaker in the secondary. When the game is on the line, he has shown he's ready to step up and make something happen.</p>

<p><strong>Lincoln Kirk, LB, Pleasant Plains (2027)</strong><br>Kirk filled up the stat sheet with 14 tackles in his team's win. He was a consistent presence around the football, bringing down ball carriers in space and plugging gaps inside. His production and toughness make him the heartbeat of the Plainsmen defense.</p>
