It has become perhaps the most read part of what we bring you every week during the football season.

Players, high school coaches, parents, friends, teammates, opponents and college coaches want to see what players who have stepped up for the week.

With things starting to get serious and every game becoming more important as we end Week 6, you will find that student/athletes start to turn up the heat – and nowhere in the country did the flames scorch like they did in the game between Jacksonville Bolles and Baldwin.

One of the top prospects in the Class of 2028 in the state – someone we brought you in the off-season and told you about his enormous potential was indeed the show when running back [player_tooltip player_id='1153040' first='Xander' last='Edwards'] set a state record for rushing touchdowns in a shootout win over Baldwin.

Edwards broke the single-game rushing touchdown record, believed to be set a week earlier by Hilliard running back D.J. Alderman with a whopping eight scores in a 73-49 win over Baldwin. Edwards' total rushing numbers from the game were crazy with 39 carries for 522 yards. He scored on runs of 44, 22, 32, 42, 77, 59, 35 and 1 yards.

Alderman rushed for 477 yards and seven touchdowns in a 49-48 loss to St. Joseph last week.

Edwards, whose father, Mark Edwards, was an excellent fullback at Notre Dame and a second-round pick of the 49ers, has been amazing this year.

From the start of the year – in the Broward County National Football Showcase against Coconut Creek Monarch to last Friday night, he eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in the game, and Bolles needed it in a surprising shootout in its district opener.

Yulee phenom Derrick Henry and Baker's Kayleb Wagner are two of the more well-known running backs to turn in career games like Edwards. Henry had four six-touchdown rushing games during his electric senior season in 2012. Henry rushed for a then-record 502 yards in a game against Jackson that year. Wagner, who was born without his left hand and part of his forearm, broke Henry's single-game rushing record with 535 rushing yards and six TDs during a game in 2022.

Wingo, a University of Miami commitment, had two receiving touchdowns from Brenton James and a rushing touchdown out of the wildcat for [player_tooltip player_id='1640270' first='St.' last='Augustine']. He also had an interception to ice the win.
