It's still early in the year but it goes quick, so here we take a look at 40 athletes in the state of Washington who have a stock which is on the rise. This will be broken down by offense and defense so check the link below for the other side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1530872' first='Jordan' last='Noel'] 27' CB/ATH Kennedy Catholic

Noel had a breakout sophomore year on the field garnering his first few D1 offers (Sac St, Portland St). He's a tough kid and one of the better overall athletes in the state for his class (basketball). The Lancers dropped two tough ball games to start the year, but showed up last week with Jordy making 5 tackles with 2 PBU's and 1 INT.

[player_tooltip player_id='1663132' first='Will' last='Maxwell'] 26' LB/DE Sumner

The returning 1st team all-conference D lineman is one of the top defensive players in Washington and a big reason Sumner will have a shot at repeating this season. He will project as an LB at the next level and should compete with his own teammates [player_tooltip player_id='1544388' first='Shaun' last='Griffith'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1165398' first='Austin' last='Glivar'] for POY honors.

[player_tooltip player_id='1589190' first='Garrett' last='Miller'] 26' LB & Mead Defense

Miller and his guys put up a ridiculous stat line this past week with 14 sacks in the 47-0 win over Central Valley. The reigning POY recorded 3 of those 14 with an INT. As mentioned, Miller is committed to Idaho St, but he will have numerous other schools vying for his services before signing day. Kids LEGIT.

[player_tooltip player_id='1165456' first='Alex' last='Hroza'] 26' LB Camas

Hroza has stepped up big on both sides of the ball for a Papermakers team which graduated a talented senior class on their way to a 4A title appearance. On the year he is ranked among the top 3 statewide with 11.7 tackles per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1368349' first='Cordae' last='Cummings'] 27' LB Spanaway Lake

The returning 1st team all-conference LB will be in the SPSL POY conversation as he continues to cause havoc everywhere he goes. On the year he has 17 tackles with 4 TFL's and 3 sacks. Last Friday he took a pick 55 yards to the house in the team's impressive 24-10 win over Federal Way.

[player_tooltip player_id='1892946' first='Wyatt' last='Chase'] 26' DB Tumwater

You have to like what the big DB brings to the table. Chase is averaging close to double digit tackles per game and can play multiple spots in the secondary or elsewhere. The blowout over Eastlake and close loss to Puyallup was telling. I don't know if I see any other 2A programs hanging with them as of right now.

[player_tooltip player_id='1906025' first='Dylan' last='Phinney'] 26' S Lake Stevens

You have to like the big 6-4 safety who has been off the charts good to start the year, averaging 12+ tackles per game. Lake Stevens made a statement with big wins over Sumner and Bellevue with the D and Phinney stepping up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1906026' first='Izear' last='Ferguson'] 26' DB Sumner

Easily one of the fastest rising prospects in the state for the 2026 class. You have to like his size (6-2 175) and versatility at DB. He had a pick last week and could be listed among the top defensive backs in the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='1589218' first='Jack' last='Pierce'] 26' DB Gonzaga Prep

Pierce has contributed numerous ways, separate from his dominant play on D. This past week he returned 4 punts for 127 yards in their 48-20 win over Mount Spokane. Gonzaga Prep is a legit state title contender.

[player_tooltip player_id='1906027' first='Zeke' last='Isaacson'] 26' LB Franklin Pierce

Expect this Franklin Pierce team to make a deep run in the playoffs. Isaacson has been one of the most impressive players in WA on the defensive side of the ball, averaging 9 tackles per game with 4 sacks and 7 TFL's through 3 contests. The Cardinals lost 21-20 to traditional 2A state power Lynden a few weeks back to put the team's talent into perspective.

[player_tooltip player_id='1368341' first='Derick' last='Manibusan'] 27' LB Graham Kapowsin

I'm a big advocate of this kid. Manibusan started as a freshman and hasn't let up. His 8.7 tackles per game and 2 TFL's thus far are a key reason why GK could be a title favorite for multiple years to come.

[player_tooltip player_id='1691685' first='Jayland' last='Coleman'] 27' LB Woodinville

The big 6-2 LB continues to up his stock, making 39 tackles with 1 sack and 1 TFL over a 3-game span. Coleman will need to step up in a tough Kingco conference, with the likes of POY Casey Larson graduating.

[player_tooltip player_id='1671389' first='Teaven' last='Jones'] 27' OLB Mount Tahoma

The T-Birds will have a legit shot of heading into the playoffs undefeated after three impressive non-conference wins to start the season. You have to give the D a lot of credit with the Jr. OLB Jones being among the state leaders in multiple statistical categories including sacks with 5.

[player_tooltip player_id='1561841' first='Taggart' last='Rathbun'] Jr. LB/S Moses Lake

You could list Rathbun among the top offensive players in the state, sitting with 17 receptions for 257 yards and 6 TDs through 3 games. That said as he is one of the most versatile 27's in the state and could project on D, currently averaging 9 tackles per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1906028' first='Bryce' last='Simmons'] 26' CB Battle Ground

The 5-8 150-pound senior plays much bigger than he is. Simmons is currently tied for the state lead in INTs (4) with Battle Ground beating their opponents by a combined score of 136-13 through 3 games.

[player_tooltip player_id='584995' first='Jeremiah' last='Orcutt'] 27' DB Franklin Pierce

As mentioned Franklin Pierce has been one of the state's surprise teams with Orcutt already landing an offer from Portland St before his junior season. He has been instrumental in the secondary, making 3 INTs with 3 PBU's while the team sits at 3-0.
