Standouts in the Bay: Week 5 Tampa Performers

Florida has long been a hotbed of high school football talent. Annually, Florida produces some of the nation's top prospects. Florida athletes are known for their speed, agility, and raw athleticism. These prospects have made names for themselves and have caught the attention of coaches and scouts at the collegiate level. With the 2025 season getting closer, we're looking for players whose stock is rising in the state.   These players are all talented and have college-level abilities. Some of these players have a few offers, but all of them have the ability to play college football at some level.   There are some big-time, highly rated prospects and several sleeper prospects who should all be getting looks for the next level. This list is full of stud prospects. Nathan Austin (c/o 2026) Position: Wide Receiver School: Keswick Christian High Height/Weight: 6'1”, 180 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 15 receptions for 531 yards and 5 touchdowns; 5 carries for 84 yards   Evaluation: Austin has been one of the most explosive playmakers in the area, averaging over 35 yards per reception through five games. His ability to stretch the field and create chunk plays has made him a constant big-play threat for Keswick Christian. At 6'1”, 180 lbs, he has the size to win contested catches while also possessing the speed to separate vertically. His versatility is further highlighted by his impact on the ground, making him a dynamic 2026 receiver prospect with true home-run ability.   Rodney Jones (c/o 2028) Position: Running Back / Athlete School: Nature Coast Tech Height/Weight: 5'9”, 160 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 69 carries for 638 yards and 8 touchdowns   Evaluation: Jones has burst onto the scene as one of the more impressive young athletes in the 2028 class. Averaging over 9 yards per carry, he shows great quickness and vision, consistently finding lanes and breaking off explosive runs. At 5'9”, 160 lbs, he has room to grow physically, but his natural playmaking ability and instincts already stand out. His productivity as just a sophomore underscores his potential as a versatile offensive weapon with a bright future.   [player_tooltip player_id='1827596' first='Jayce' last='Jones'] (c/o 2026) Position: Wide Receiver School: Northside Christian Height/Weight: 6'0”, 180 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 24 receptions for 506 yards and 8 touchdowns; 14 carries for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns   Evaluation: Jones has been a touchdown machine for Northside Christian, already racking up 10 total scores through five games. He combines reliable hands with excellent route running, creating separation and producing consistently in the passing game. At 6'0”, 180 lbs, he brings a balanced frame that allows him to be effective both as a vertical target and in short-yardage situations. His ability to contribute as a runner adds to his versatility, making him a well-rounded 2026 offensive weapon.   Kwamaine Powell (c/o 2026) Position: Wide Receiver School: Hollins High Height/Weight: 6'5”, 210 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 19 receptions for 437 yards and 3 touchdowns   Evaluation: Powell's size and physicality make him one of the most imposing receivers in the region. At 6'5”, 210 lbs, he presents a mismatch against nearly every defensive back, using his length to win jump balls and high-point passes. He has already proven to be a reliable red-zone threat, and his ability to stretch the field makes him a dangerous target down the sidelines. With his frame and production, Powell is a 2026 prospect with tremendous upside as a prototypical outside receiver.   Haven Pierce (c/o 2026) Position: Wide Receiver School: Plant City High Height/Weight: 5'8”, 145 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 18 receptions for 433 yards and 4 touchdowns   Evaluation: Pierce is a speedy, elusive playmaker who thrives in open space. Averaging over 24 yards per catch, he brings instant explosiveness to the Plant City offense and can flip field position with one play. Though undersized at 5'8”, 145 lbs, he makes up for it with quickness, agility, and strong ball skills. His ability to create separation and produce big plays makes him one of the more exciting 2026 wideouts to watch moving forward.
