On Friday evening in St. Louis two of the top teams in Class 6 met up in action with both teams featuring multiple college prospects. Here are some of the difference makers in the game on offense for both SLUH and De Smet.

SLUH

Mizzou LB commit [player_tooltip player_id='392813' first='Keenan' last='Harris'] (6'2" 210) has shown that he can be a weapon on offense since he was a freshman getting some reps at wide receiver. Last Friday was the first I saw him in the Wildcat role carrying the ball for a big part of the offense and he absolutely dominated on the night rushing for 95 yards on 15 carries and 3 touchdowns. The talented athlete showed great strength and power breaking tackles and powering his way in short yardage and on his scoring runs. For good measure he added six tackles at his linebacker spot showcasing his defensive skills and athleticism on that side of the ball as well.

Sacremento State RB commit [player_tooltip player_id='284042' first='Jordan' last='Taylor'] (5'9" 185) carried the load with the majority of the carries in the game as the Jr. Bills were able to move the ball on the ground behind some good O-line play all night. Taylor finished the game with 162 yards and touchdown on 30 carries. He is fast and elusive with the ability to make defenders miss with a quick cut and then accelerate in a hurry. He has made it all the way back from an injury that sidelined him two years ago.

Talented QB [player_tooltip player_id='402127' first='Kyren' last='Eleby'] deserves a mention with his leadership and how he ran the offense all night, including his impressive scrambling ability at 300-pounds to elude defenders and run the ball with defensive linemen and linebackers bouncing off him. Kyren threw for 152 yards on 11 of 23 passing and averaged 5.25 yards per carry toting the ball. His unique athletic ability at his size has some colleges showing interest in him as a defensive tackle prospect. At QB he sees the field well and does a good job finding his target and firing the ball with a quick release, He has a strong arm. It'll be interesting to see where he winds up and at what position.

2026 6'3" 210 athletic TE/WR [player_tooltip player_id='1316179' first='Will' last='Schulte'] made a great 40-yard catch that set up a go ahead field goal for SLUH that gave them momentum heading into halftime after the Spartans had managed to tie the game. The Jr. Bills came out with that momentum and didn't look back. Schulte has good speed, is physical as a receiver and blocker, and has tremendous hands and ability to make big plays.

DE SMET

Spartan 2028 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1598517' first='Cameran' last='Sharp'] (5'9" 175) was a bright spot for the home team with his high energy running style. Sharp is quick as lightening with impressive burst and speed in the open field. He hits the hole in a hurry and uses his vision and quick feet to make it difficult for defenders to get a good shot at him. He also has deceptive strength and does go down with arm tackles showing good power. He had 23 carries for 137 yards and a 12-yard touchdown run in doing his part to keep his team in the game in the first half. Bright future ahead for him.

Wyatt Stolz was another offensive difference maker for De Smet making some big catches in the first half for them, including a nice 3-yard touchdown grab to tie the game up. It looked like things were about to shift in the Spartans favor. Wyatt finished the game with 4 catches for 78 yards. The 6'2" receiver has shown flashes of big play ability since I first saw him playing for Mascoutah in Illinois. He has good size, speed and a great set of hands.

Signal-caller Gabe Roderiguez (6'4" 200) had a solid game but dealt with a fast defense that was able to put pressure on and managed to pick off a couple of his passes. The college prospect is a good athlete overall and managed to keep plays alive as he completed 13 of 18 throws for 147 yards and a touchdown to Stoltz. Gabe has patiently waited his turn and has all the skills to keep the Spartans in the race to return deep into the playoffs.
