The season has QUICKLY flown by as we are now at the halfway point! Over the past five weeks, there have been many exciting games, players, and moments that have caught everyone's attention. This week, instead of just posting our PRZNE Class Rankings on Instagram, I decided to provide a quick breakdown, including a look at how the season has progressed so far for each of the Top 10 teams.

1 - Elkhorn North (5-0): Our preseason #1 continues to hold on to the top spot through five weeks of the regular season. Along the way, they handed perennial playoff contender York a 42-7 loss and held off Gretna for a 31-21 win. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='795746' first='Ethan' last='Beachy'] has been great in his second season as the Wolves' starting QB, recording 958 passing yards, 157 rushing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown. Their LB group of [player_tooltip player_id='1114606' first='Barry' last='Fries'] (30 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, and 1 INT), [player_tooltip player_id='1588236' first='Ian' last='Christo'] (28 tackles, 3 TFLs), [player_tooltip player_id='1699286' first='Grant' last='Sutko'] (25 tackles, 6 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries with one TD), and [player_tooltip player_id='488116' first='Jase' last='Reynolds'] (22 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, forced fumble, and fumble recovery). The last three weeks of the season will be a real test as they face #6 Skutt Catholic, #5 Gretna East, and #4 Bennington in three consecutive weeks.

Remaining schedule: Elkhorn (0-5), @ #6 Skutt Catholic (4-1), #5 Gretna East (4-1), and #4 Bennington (4-1).

2 - Norris (5-0): The Norris Titans have been one of the biggest surprise teams of the season, setting the tone right off the bat with a blowout season-opener win over the reigning champions, Skutt Catholic.

Remaining schedule: @ Lincoln Standing Bear (2-3), Beatrice (0-5), @ #3 Waverly (5-0), and @ Elkhorn (0-5).

3 - Waverly (5-0): The always consistent Waverly Vikings keep it business as usual in 2025 as they roll to an impressive 5-0 record that includes a huge win over Class B powerhouse Bennington.

Remaining schedule: @ Beatrice (0-5), @ Plattsmouth (3-2), #2 Norris (5-0), and @ Lincoln Pius X (2-3).

4 - Bennington (4-1): The Bennington Badgers suffered an early-season loss at the hands of the Waverly Vikings, but have since turned the corner and have been looking like the fine-tuned machine we have seen in previous years. Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='433165' first='Ty' last='Bouaphakeo'] has found success through the air and with his legs, posting 942 passing yards, 412 rushing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, and three rushing touchdowns. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1270806' first='Cole' last='Miller'] and Jacob Sanger have been an outstanding duo with both players recording at least 50 tackles, 6 TFLs, and a sack. The Class B championship rematch in Week 8 against #6 Skutt Catholic will be one of the biggest games in Class B, not to be overshadowed by their season finale against #1 Elkhorn North.

Remaining schedule: Blair (0-5), Elkhorn (0-5), #6 Skutt Catholic (4-1), and #1 Elkhorn North (5-0).

5- Gretna East (4-1): It doesn't look like there's no more up-and-coming about the Griffins as they have fully arrived in 2025 and look primed to make a deep November run.

Remaining schedule: Platteview (3-2), @ Ralston (2-3), @ #1 Elkhorn North, and Gretna (2-3).

6- Skutt Catholic (4-1): The Sky Hawks looked to have righted the ship after suffering a stunning season opener loss to #2 Norris. Since then, they have beaten Lincoln Standing Bear (42-7), Plattsmouth (23-3), Ralston (54-21), and Elkhorn (42-8).

Remaining schedule: Lincoln Pius X (2-3), #1 Elkhorn North (5-0), @ #4 Bennington (4-1), and Blair (0-5).

7 - Scottsbluff (4-1): It's hard to talk about the Class B race without mentioning the Bearcats waiting out west. Up until a Week 4 loss to #9 Seward (14-6), the Bearcats had been rolling with wins against GI Northwest (41-19), Lincoln Northwest (56-7), and Crete (56-0). They gained back some momentum with a comfortable 56-7 win over Lexington last week.

Remaining schedule: @ Gering (4-1), Hastings (1-4), @ #8 McCook (4-1), and #10 York (3-2).

8 - McCook (4-1): McCook has been a consistent presence among top Class B teams since rejoining the ranks a few seasons ago. This season is no different as they currently sit at 4-1 and firmly in the playoff race. They hold wins over Beatrice (41-15), Aurora (27-20), Crete (42-3), and gave Gering their first loss of the year (41-17), with their only loss being against #3 Waverly (42-7).

Remaining schedule: @ Hastings (1-4), @ Ogallala (1-4), #7 Scottsbluff (4-1), and @ Lexington (1-4).

9 - Seward (3-2): A rough start for the Seward Bluejays has given them a newfound hunger as they have now gotten back above .500 and are looking to continue this momentum going into the second half of the season. The dropped early games to #5 Gretna East (24-21) and #3 Waverly (28-20), but have since knocked off Lincoln Pius X (27-14), #7 Scottbluff (14-6), and Lincoln Northwest (28-17).

Remaining schedule: GI Northwest (2-3), @ Blair (0-5), @ #10 York (3-2), and Crete (1-4).

10 - York (3-2): The York Dukes are a team that is always sticking around for the playoffs and should continue that run this fall if they can weather a tricky district schedule. It's tough to predict the ceiling of the Dukes as they've beaten teams they were favored against in Hastings (21-0), Beatrice (20-6), and Crete (21-14), but dropped a game to Lincoln Standing Bear (21-16), which could loom large in the playoff seedings.
