Week 1 is officially in the books in the Sunflower State, and it was quite an eventful night of action. Especially in the Kansas City metro and surrounding counties. But before everyone gets geared up for Week 2, it's only right if we pass out Game Balls for some impressive performances from the first week of the season.

This first Game Ball report of the ‘25 campaign features nine noteworthy offensive performances. Take a look at the numbers these prospects put up, and be sure to follow the Game Ball series throughout this fall.

The Washington Wildcats put together an offensive explosion against Sumner Academy. Their scoring frenzy was spearheaded by [player_tooltip player_id='1664431' first='Savion' last='Stone'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1125716' first='CamRon' last='Fields']. Senior quarterback Stone was the focal point as he completed 61% of his passes and accounted for 356 yards of total offense with six scores. For Fields, the junior turned 10 touches into 256 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. These two have the potential to help lead Washington on a postseason run.

[player_tooltip player_id='586960' first='LJ' last='Bowens'] & [player_tooltip player_id='1537490' first='Aidan' last='Ihm'] - Blue Valley NW

The next offensive duo that caught my eye was Bowens and Ihm of Blue Valley Northwest. These two upperclassmen assisted in helping the Huskies put up 40 points against rival Blue Valley North. Bowens rushed for 110 yards on 15 carries while also catching three passes for 50 yards. He'd find the end zone three times. Junior quarterback Ihm is now the full-time starter for BVNW and he was efficient Friday night. Ihm completed 16 of 25 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns, and also chipped in 45 yards on the ground with one score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1700711' first='Dan' last='Sogard'] - Blue Valley, 6'2”, 170, QB

Sogard is another quarterback fairly new to the varsity stage, and he impressed in his 2025 debut as well. In his first career start he was nearly perfect, as he completed 20 of 22 passes for 298 yards and four touchdowns.

Rushing

[player_tooltip player_id='267076' first='Calin' last='Arndt'] - St. Thomas Aquinas, 5'9”, 195, RB

Friday night was business as usual for Aquinas and the reigning MaxPreps Kansas Player of the Year. Arndt and the Saints' offense squared off against a tough defense from Blue Valley West. The senior running back helped lead Aquinas to victory as he rushed for 235 yards and hit paydirt three times.

[player_tooltip player_id='945017' first='Traimyre' last='Woodruff'] - Shawnee Mission NW, 5'11”, 180, ATH

I was personally really excited to see how this next prospect would do in Week 1. Our staff knew Woodruff's role was going to expand this season, and Friday night was just a glimpse of what's to come. He only received seven carries on the night but he turned that into 207 yards on the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591357' first='Jaxon' last='Pollard'] - Lansing, 6'0” 200, ATH

Pollard of Lansing followed up his breakout sophomore season with a massive game to begin his junior year. He was the bell cow in Lansing's Week 1 win over Turner, as he was fed the ball 29 times for 256 yards and six scores. The junior contributed nine total tackles and an interception on defense as well.

All-Around

[player_tooltip player_id='1582714' first='Blake' last='Thomas'] - Blue Valley SW, 5'11”, 180, RB/ATH

Blue Valley Southwest came up short against Blue Valley in Week 1, but they may have found an impact player in the process. Our staff just featured Thomas ahead of Week 1 and he delivered with a great performance in his first varsity game. The freshman returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and hauled in a 23-yard touchdown pass. It'll be interesting to see if his role expands a bit more after this impressive outing.
