While doing my pregame prep, I caught a few glimpses of Xavier on tape. I thought he'd be a solid game manager, but he was much more than that.

I'm surprised by Xavier's passing volume, as well as his success. Most of his throws are relatively quick reads. Screens, short crossers, etc. Then, there were a small handful of great throws downfield. There were two deep throws in the first half that impressed me greatly. On top of that, Xavier is a capable runner and knows how to earn yards after contact. Super impressed with Xavier's all-around game! He raises the ceiling and floor of this team tremendously.

Before anything, I want to highlight William's leadership. He was constantly talking and encouraging his teammates on the sidelines. After giving up a TD, I watched as William rallied his defense, brought them over to the TV, and said, "Come on, guys. Let's listen. Let's learn. We gotta help the offense". Always talking, always being positive, and one of the best vocal leaders I've ever seen.

Plus, he's quite good on the field. William was a big reason why Dow could not get anything going on the ground. He swarmed the run extremely well. Plus, a couple of times where he worked through a block. A little bit raw in pass defense, but I understand Mt. Pleasant doesn't usually face elite pass offenses like Dow.

There was also an excellent kick return from Zay. Makes me feel good about his offensive upside as well. Competitive kid, athletic, and looking forward to seeing what he can do this season.

Mt. Pleasant took care of business. In a highly anticipated matchup of undefeateds, Mt. Pleasant simply outscored the Dow offense. It was a shootout, but Mt. Pleasant did what Dow could not- defense made a few stops, and the offense didn't miss a beat.
