After an eventful four weeks of action, teams in the Sunflower State are prepping for the second half of the regular season. The second half is sure to be interesting and the stakes will be higher as we inch closer to the postseason.

As we close the book on the first half of the regular season, I wanted to take one last look at what was an exciting Week 4 in the Kansas City metro and surrounding counties. It could be argued that it was the week of the quarterback, as there were several signal callers that shredded opposing defenses. They weren't the only prospects that balled out though. Here's a look at Week 4's game ball recipients.

Offense

Brett LaDuke - Blue Valley West, 6'4”, 215 QB, Class of ‘26, Unranked

LaDuke and the Blue Valley West Jaguars took their lumps in the first half of the regular season. However, Week 4 was a step in the right direction. The Jags picked up their first win of the ‘25 campaign behind LaDuke's big night. He completed 10 of 16 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='1700711' first='Dan' last='Sogard'] - Blue Valley, 6'2”, 170, QB, Class of ‘27

Making his second appearance in the game ball series is another gunslinger from the Blue Valley school district. Sogard continued his breakout junior campaign with a career night. The junior completed 68% of his passes and threw for 334 yards and three scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113370' first='Carson' last='Dixon'] & [player_tooltip player_id='1114730' first='Nash' last='Morrison'] - Basehor-Linwood

Each week I try to feature either one offensive duo or one defensive duo. This offensive duo for the fourth edition of the game ball series goes to [player_tooltip player_id='1113370' first='Carson' last='Dixon'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1114730' first='Nash' last='Morrison'] of Basehor-Linwood. The senior tandem connected eight times for 154 yards and four touchdowns. Dixon also racked up 124 yards on the ground and hit paydirt once.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250383' first='Jack' last='Reeves'] - Shawnee Mission East, 6'0”, 190, ATH, Class of ‘26

Reeves isn't necessarily a traditional quarterback, but he still had a monster night under center in Week 4. The senior led the charge offensively for Shawnee Mission East in a thrilling barnburner against Olathe South. He exploded for six rushing touchdowns and nearly 300 yards on the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591357' first='Jaxon' last='Pollard'] - Lansing, 6'0”, 205, ATH

After a couple of tough losses Pollard helped get Lansing back into the win column. He eclipsed 500 yards rushing on the season and put together his second best performance of his junior campaign. His final line from Week 4 was a whopping 37 carries for 197 yards and four scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='934700' first='Trea' last='Hayes'] - Olathe South, 6'0”, 160, WR, Class of ‘27

Hayes was unfortunately on the wrong side of Reeves' monster performance. Despite the loss, he delivered with an outstanding performance of his own. He hauled in six catches for 138 yards and found the end zone once.

Defense

[player_tooltip player_id='1881280' first='Brooks' last='Bayer'] - Spring Hill, 6'2”, 240, Edge, Class of ‘27

I promise I try my absolute hardest not to feature the same prospects each week. But Bayer's latest performance cannot go without mentioning. Bayer came up with two interceptions returned for touchdowns in the first half of Spring Hill's big win over Piper. He also recorded two sacks during the contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664441' first='ZayVion' last='Hayslett'] - Washington, 5'11”, 175, Edge/LB, Class of ‘28

Much like Bayer, it's difficult not to acknowledge the season that Hayslett has been having. The sophomore is now up to 12 sacks on the year after piling up six in Washington's Week 4 victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='1597339' first='Nathan' last='McClung'] - Christ Prep Academy, 5'9”, 195, Class of ‘27

Christ Prep Academy has fielded a stifling defense this season. McClung has been a key leader for them and he came up big for the Patriots. During CPA's 41-8 win, McClung recorded 12 total tackles and recovered one fumble.
