Recovering following a rough week 1 loss to Mount Ayr, Shenandoah endured a gritty matchup at home against Clarinda where the Cardinals outpaced the Mustangs in total offensive yards (284-192), but Clarinda wasn't able to turn enough of their yardage into points, and a missed FG from Shenandoah at the end of regulation sent the game into overtime. Shenandoah struck in OT with a TD, and Clarinda faced a 4th and Goal from the 9 yard line. The Cardinals' completed the pass to the 1-yard line, but ended up short of the goal-line, giving the Mustangs not just their first win of the season, but their first win against the Cardinals since 2016 in a significant overtime classic.

The first matchup between these two teams since 2019, the two teams exploded during the midsection of this game, with Eagle Grove taking a 24-19 lead heading into the 4th quarter with an opportunity to pull off an upset at home. Despite an inconsistent performance from the offense which turned the ball over twice, they clicked at the perfect time late in the game, with QB CeJay Jones hitting a TD to [player_tooltip player_id='1601589' first='Weston' last='Sundell'] with under 4 minutes left in the game to give the Bulldogs the lead. The Bulldogs forced a turnover on downs to seal their third straight win against Eagle Grove.

Pella Christian refused to go out quietly though, rallying with 13 unanswered points. Unfortunately, following a late touchdown, the Eagles gambled with a 2-Point attempt, which was stuffed, allowing the Trojans to run out the clock to secure a well-earned win.

However, straight after the break, the Rebels came roaring back to life, rallying with 20 points in the 3rd quarter. The Cardinals tied the game early in the 4th quarter, but the momentum had swung in favor of Northeast, and QB Maxzen Eskildsen hit a 40 yard touchdown to TE Cael Kluever with just over a minute left to play to give Northeast the win in an engaging comeback.

With a 28-7 lead heading into the 4th, it seemed all but over, but the Jaguars fought their way back to life, cutting the deficit to just 1 point toward the end, but a late touchdown from the E-Hawks put the game away, securing another big win for Emmetsburg, although the Jaguars certainly deserve a great amount of credit for holding their own against one of the top teams in the conference.
