We had to endure multiple weather delays and pushing the remainder of the game to Saturday but in the end, Clarksville improved to 1-2 on the season after their 38-6 smashing of Rossview.

This was a must win game for the Wildcats and they came through with their first victory of the season in their (Score) win over cross town rival Rossview. The Cats started fast and strong, using their run game to enforce their will and maintained physicality throughout the entire game. After a punt on their first series, Clarksville received a jolt from their special teams with a blocked punt that placed them in prime scoring position.

The Wildcats capitalized with their first score of the game, coming by way of the play action pass and junior quarterback Kayden Pledger. He made a nice read and pass into the end zone where Canaan Orton brought down the pass. Clarksville went for two and succeeded. A blocked punt and an 8-0 start was definitely what the Wildcats coaching staff wanted to see from their team.

Rossview immediately answered with a score of their own as Dawson Deer found Beckett Haselhuhn for a 54 yard touchdown pass. The Red Hawks went for two but did not succeed, however they had the score at 8-6. That would be the closest the home team would be as Clarksville purely dominated the rest of the game.

It didn't long on the next drive for the Wildcats to extend their lead. Senior two-way player [player_tooltip player_id='1664053' first='Bryson' last='Ellington'] bursted through an open hole and ran 40 yards towards the end zone for his first score of the night. The road team was now on top 16-6 and would continue pouring it on the rest of the game.

After taking a ten point lead, Clarksville had to take their foot off the gas as a lightning delay stopped the game. When the two teams got back on the field, the Wildcats went right back to running downhill at the Rossview defense. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='378869' first='Ahvare' last='Galbreath'] produced the team's second rushing of the night after a 23 yard run into the end zone, pushing the Cats lead out to 23-6.

Before the game was halted for the final time due to weather, Clarksville put another touchdown on the board after Ellington's second rushing score of the night. The Cats big man broke through some tackles to find paydirt and basically put the game away as the Hawks offense could not find consistency.

The only thing that slowed Clarksville down was the weather as we had to endure two lightning delays with the second one pushing the contest to Saturday. This matchup was postponed till Saturday and once we got back on the field, it didn't take long for the road team to flex their muscle again and put the game away.

Almost immediately after the game was re-started, Galbreath produced his second touchdown of the contest to put Clarksville ahead 38-6. That would turn out to be the final score as we dealt with a running clock the rest of the way and a Rossview team that was not invested. This turned out to be a tough loss for the home Hawks as they now move to “Week Four” at 0-3 on the season with a lot of areas throughout the team that needs to be fixed.

For the Wildcats, it was an impressive showing and nice bounce back after beginning the year 0-2. Clarksville made this game important and it showed early on. They wanted to establish physicality in the trenches and let their rushing attack shine. Those two things happened and were major factors behind the inner county blowout win.

Multiple Wildcat players could have been chosen for this honor but I felt Ellington deserved it as he produced two offensive touchdowns as well as several stops near or behind the line of scrimmage on defense. This Clarksville defensive end, who moonlights as a running back, had a senior level performance against Rossview and one that was needed to help get the Wildcats into the win column. His physicality and size became a problem for the Hawks defense but Ellington was also hard to deal with on defense as a top run stuffer.

Other Top Performers

(OG) [player_tooltip player_id='1620795' first='Trevon' last='Bledsoe'] - Clarksville: The Wildcats entire offensive line deserves a lot of credit but I thought Bledsoe was dominant against the Hawks. This senior mauler plowed over his opponent, opening running lanes all night long for his backs. Bledsoe is a big boy that eats up a lot of interior space and can engulf the competition with his power and size. More big performances like this one may help push his college stock further.

(TE/Edge) Becket Haselhuhn - Rossview: It was hard to find much to like about the Hawks performance but one guy who did stand out to me was Haselhuhn. Standing 6 '3 230 pounds, the Hawks senior handles the tight end role and that's where he fits best but Haselhuhn is a versatile guy that displayed his ability to catch passes in this game while also showing work off the edge on defense. Haselhuhn has a future in baseball but I certainly see upside for football, if he sticks with it in college.

(LB/Edge) Max Cunningham - Clarksville: This game was first time getting a full look at Cunningham and might I say, the Wildcats senior is well built physically with the potential to handle either middle or edge linebacker on the next level. I like what I saw from the Wildcats senior. He was active and physical with a quick first step. Cunningham does need to enhance his athleticism but the raw tools are in place to develop much further over the coming years.

‘27 (QB) Kayden Pledger - Clarksville: Pledger didn't have to do much in this matchup but when his number was called, the Wildcats junior quarterback delivered. He produced the first score of the game with a nice over the shoulder pass but continued to display his passing upside throughout the remainder of the matchup. Pledger has good size too along with an athletic skill set that could make him one of the better dual threat quarterbacks from our #TN2027 class.

‘27 (RB/LB) [player_tooltip player_id='378869' first='Ahvare' last='Galbreath'] - Clarksville: Producing two rushing scores for the game, Galbreath proved to be one of the better players on the field with his physical running and ability to stuff the run from his linebacker position. The Wildcats junior backer was tough to handle with the ball in his hands. The Hawks defense could not tackle him on first contact and most of the time, Galbreath would break through those tackles and churn out big yards. I don't know yet what position this guy will be in college but I like the versatile skill set here as well as the physical prowess that Galbreath brings to the field.
