Thursday night's matchup between the Beech Buccaneers (2-0) and East Nashville Eagles (0-2) was another outstanding game from this season. Both teams went back and forth while delivering clutch plays consistently.

It started when East Nashville QB [player_tooltip player_id='1668630' first='Dallas' last='Covington'] led his team down the field on the opening drive to score a touchdown, taking an early 6-0 lead. However, Beech answered with nine consecutive points to give the Bucs a 9-6 lead at halftime.

Covington came out of the intermission strong, scoring his second touchdown of the night, this one being on the ground. That's when Beech went on another run, holding a 22-13 lead before the Eagles scored and got the ball back with a chance to win.

In the end, the Buccaneer defense held strong and forced a fumble in the red zone to seal the game as they ran out the clock for a 22-19 victory.

Powell is an absolute bowling ball at quarterback, whose main game is designed runs due to his size and speed as a signal caller. At 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, he's built like a tight end but plays QB, and is perfect for Beech's system.

They run him a lot, and with his size, athleticism, agility and power, he's nearly impossible to bring down. His baseball background helps a lot as he's committed to Kentucky as an OF/RHP, which is where he gets the core strength and athleticism.

He also has a nice arm that's accurate enough to mix things up when Beech calls a pass.

Other Notable Names

2028 WR Damien Elder – East Nashville

Elder is yet another young, talented receiver in the class of 2028. The sophomore wideout is built well with a nice catch radius. His route running is crisp and fluid, allowing him to get by defenders consistently.

He's also nice after the catch, proving he can be a big-time YAC guy when the ball is in his hands. Elder's vision is advanced for his age, as you'll see him making tough catches all the time due to that vision and feel for where he is on the gridiron.

Keep an eye on him to be among the top in-state 2028 wideouts.

2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1028041' first='Jeramy' last='Laster'] Jr – Beech

Laster will be a problem for opposing defenses the next few years. He had a good game, going for nearly 100 receiving yards and a touchdown while showcasing what he can do all over the field.

The sophomore is a good receiver with nice speed, agility, strong hands and good route running, but he's used all over with screens and jet sweeps. He's a gadget player who is also not afraid of contact and blocks extremely well.

He already has five P4 offers and should expect to earn more if he continues progressing.

2027 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1668630' first='Dallas' last='Covington'] – East Nashville

Covington is an intriguing player who has time to develop further, but already has many traits that college coaches like. He's a dual-threat quarterback with speed, nice acceleration, an accurate arm in short/intermediate routes and stays in the pocket instead of sprinting at the sight of a rusher.

Those skills helped him rack up 365 total yards and three scores, but he also had three costly turnovers. He must work on his decision-making, but the potential is sky-high. If he can correct some things, he could be a legit D1 prospect.

2027 LB [player_tooltip player_id='903534' first='DK' last='Williams'] – Beech

The junior linebacker was ferocious on Thursday, recording a trio of sacks while playing a key part in shutting down the Eagles' run game. He's a high-motor player who flies around the field to make plays, while staying disciplined enough to not overrun somebody or miss an assignment.

He has solid footwork and burst while being versatile, offering many things to his team. Williams is a good backer who leads the defense and continues to produce as a tackler or coverage guy.
