<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With the Prep Redzone Illinois 2027 Rankings being expanded to 250 prospects there are a ton of new names that have emerged along with prospects that elevated their stock.&nbsp; Here we look at those prospects in&nbsp;<strong>2027 Rankings: Defensive Lineman Risers/New Names</strong>!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1791849' first='David' last='Hill'] (Homewood Flossmoor)<br></strong><br>Hill is a physical 6'3" 270 pound defensive lineman from HF.&nbsp; Plays mostly at defensive end, but might be best suited at the next level kicking into DT.&nbsp; Very good vs the run shedding blocks to make tackles.&nbsp; Strong physical characteristics and brings alot of effort.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1598839' first='Daijon' last='Overton'] (Morgan Park)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This Morgan Park defensive lineman goes 6'3" and 300 pounds.&nbsp; The defensive tackle is at his best against the run where he consistently stuffs.&nbsp; Takes on blockers and can make tackles with his long arms reeling them in.&nbsp; As a pass rusher it is mostly bull rushes putting pressure on the pocket.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1344857' first='Lamar' last='Winfield'] (Providence Catholic)<br></strong><br>Winfield goes 6'3” and 240 pounds.&nbsp; As a defensive tackle he brings a nice combination of power and athleticism as an interior pass rusher.&nbsp; Gets up field after the QB.&nbsp; Solid run defender that uses his long arms and instincts.&nbsp; Plays the run well as a five technique at defensive end.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1566782' first='Kelonnie' last='Owens'] (Bloom)<br></strong><br>Like the potential here at 6'3" 190 pounds.&nbsp; Owens is a lethal speed rusher that has burst off the ball.&nbsp; Comes out of his stance like a sprinter chasing the QB.&nbsp; Solid against the run and contributes on kick coverage.&nbsp; Will need to add more strength, but tools to believe in here.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1115779' first='John' last='Breton'] (Hinsdale Central)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hager is a 6'5" 240 pound defensive end that displays burst off the snap and to the QB.&nbsp; Good length and knows how to use his hands well both rushing the passer and getting off blocks in the run game.&nbsp; High-motor player that is also a core special teams guy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1508934' first='Tymel' last='Lofton'] (Brother Rice)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Intrigued with this 6'2" 230 pound defensive end.&nbsp; Seems most of highlight tape was JV, but he definitely pops on film.&nbsp; Runs very well and hits hard.&nbsp; Consistently pursues the QB putting pressure on them.&nbsp; Bends around the edge.&nbsp; Disciplined vs the run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
