Bernalillo outlasted Highland in a defensive dominated OT contest Thursday at Milne Stadium. In the first OT, Bernalillo intercepted a pass by Highland. Moments later, Bernalillo QB [player_tooltip player_id='853757' first='Ulisses' last='Castro'] lofted a TD pass to WR [player_tooltip player_id='1599962' first='Ivan' last='Ruiz'] into the left corner of the end zone of the game-winning score.
In the most exciting (and controversial) finish of Week 2, Organ Mountain stunned Deming with a Hail Mary TD pass caught by WR [player_tooltip player_id='1680055' first='Zeke' last='Weir'] in the final seconds for a 26-22 victory at Field of Dreams. Knights QB [player_tooltip player_id='1680049' first='Jaden' last='Gonzales'] was 14-of-25 passing for 236 yards and 3 TD. The final seconds of the game were chaotic, to say the least, according to MaxPreps. After forcing a Deming punt, Organ Mountain took over at its 29 with less than a minute remaining. Gonzales completed a pass to Weir out to the Deming 49-yard line. Organ Mountain moved to the 29-yard line. Gonzales hit Weir for an apparent game-winning score but the officials called offensive pass interference. With just seconds remaining, Gonzales heaved another deep pass to Weir. The pass was incomplete but defensive pass interference was called on Deming, giving Organ Mountain one more untimed down. This time, Gonzales and Weir connected with the latter outleaping multiple Deming defenders in the end zone for the game-winning reception. Here's the video of that magical play:

Piedra Vista Deals Bloomfield Rare Loss: Prior to Friday night, Bloomfield hadn't lost a regular season game since midway through the 2022 season. Piedra Vista held off Bloomfield in the second half after scoring twice in the first half on TD runs by QB Reuban Marquez (54 yards) and RB Kael Farley (12 yards) for a 14-0 halftime lead. Bloomfield fought back to narrow the deficit to 14-13 in the third quarter on a short run by QB Manual Chavarria and Chavarria's TD pass to [player_tooltip player_id='1137877' first='Kaleb' last='Hutchens']. Senior linebacker Andrew Wood came up with a big defensive play for Piedra Vista when he forced a fumble, scooped up the ball and raced 30 yards for a TD to extend the Panthers lead to 21-13 with just over 3 minutes left in the third quarter. However, Bloomfield recovered to take a brief lead at 22-21 on a safety and 40-yard TD pass to [player_tooltip player_id='1599979' first='Deasyl' last='Priddy'] with 9 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. Less than 4 minutes later, Farley powered over from two yards out to give Piedra Vista the lead for good. Bloomfield drove into the red zone in the final minute looking for the game-winning score but consecutive incomplete passes on third and fourth down killed the drive. Bloomfield saw their 13-game winning streak snapped. The Bobcats were 12-0 last season as they captured their second Class 4A title in three seasons.
