In an off-season filled with some interesting football stories in the state of Florida, one of the most impressive and program defining could have taken place at The Villages Charter in Middleton.   North of Orlando and to the south of Ocala, this program has been the talk of the state for its amazing facilities – which hosted the Sunshine State Athletic Association and Rural championships last season.   But somewhere this spring and summer, the football program began to take center stage. Not just as a team that is growing, but one that has the talent and coaching to contend this year.   With Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Famer Richard Pettus calling the shots and an impressive staff, talent has been added and the mindset of this program has changed as the Buffalo look to go 2-0 on Friday at home against Lecanto. Someone who plays on both sides of the ball as he had some huge plays on the opener. In addition to what he does on the football field and the basketball court, he also gets it done in the classroom, which is opening doors at the next level. This team captain opened the season with a huge game against Wildwood as a two-way player who is a short yardage back that is a true weapon for this program. He is explosive and very talented as he proved that he will be a force this coming season. Coming up with three sacks in the convincing win last week. Three-year starter, who already has nine pancake blocks in 2 halves (kickoff classic and opener) of football. This versatile talent, who they call “Honey Badger”, can play anywhere for this team and is already an All-Conference performer who has been playing linebacker and was a nightmare for the Wildwood defense last week, leading the team in tackles. With an offer already from Bethune Cookman University and other D1 level schools, this Leesburg transfer has already made an impact heading into this week with five receptions for 183 yards. Nicknamed “Debo”, keep an eye on his progress because he will be very special. Another of the transfers to join this program, he is one of the fastest and most elusive linebackers in the central Florida area. This is someone that is an impact player that will not only be a star of the future but a difference maker now. Has a chance to be very special! Here is a big-time receiving prospect who has been impressive over the first two years at the varsity level. One of the best young pass rushers in the area. He has a knack for getting after the quarterback and wreaked havoc on the Wildwood offensive line in the opener. Here is a speedy transfer from Lake Minneola, who has already shown what he can do as a playmaker at the running back position.
