Prospects To Watch for in Huntsville/Mortimer Jordan’s Jamboree

With the season quickly approaching, we thought we'd preview one of the state's Jamboree matchups this week!   Huntsville and Mortimer Jordan both have talented rosters, so we're diving in and watching some of the prospects we think could have big performances when the two meet up.   As always, make sure to watch some of their tape below- these guys all have huge seasons ahead and deserve more eyes.   <h1 class="wp-block-heading">OFFENSE</h1>    [player_tooltip player_id='1144447' first='Michael' last='Price'] is one of Huntsville's top OL and is coming off a great junior season that has helped him generate a lot of collegiate interest.   “Price is dominant in the run game and opens up wide rushing lanes at the line of scrimmage and beyond- he moves well at his size and can work from level to level to deliver devastating blocks all over the field, consistently helping his teammates create huge plays on the ground.   Price is just as impressive, if not more, in pass protection- he's the anchor of Huntsville's OL and completely shuts down pass rushers on the left side, providing his QB plenty of time in the backfield to make plays.“   A little while back, Price committed to James Madison! It'll be exciting watching Price's senior season- he's helped Huntsville's offense in a lot of different ways.   Do yourself a favor and watch some of Price's film below. He'll be a key player to watch in the trenches this week.      [player_tooltip player_id='1621015' first='Joey' last='Fleming'] is another dominant piece of Huntsville's offensive line and is heading into a big sophomore season.   “At 6'6 260, Fleming is a big underclassman who already provides terrific pass protection and run blocking for his team upfront. Fleming is a hard man to beat in the trenches; he explodes off the line, plays with great leverage, and has the strength to consistently pave defenders into the dirt at the LOS and in the open field.   I'm really impressed with Fleming's ability to protect the quarterback- he's a serious anchor on the offensive line who consistently uses his athleticism and physicality to keep pass rushers outside of the pocket, providing tons of time and security for his QB.“   Fleming has been picking up a ton of attention this offseason. Since our last update, he's picked up offers from Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, and plenty of others.   You can easily see why Fleming has picked up the attention he has by watching his tape below. With him and Price playing alongside each other, Mortimer Jordan's DL will have a lot of work to do this week.      [player_tooltip player_id='1635733' first='Levi' last='Madrid'] is a versatile TE and a key piece of Mortimer Jordan's passing attack that defenders will have to circle this week.   “Madrid is a talented and physical blocker who opens up so much space for his teammates at the line of scrimmage and beyond. He plays with great leverage, strength, and effort- consistently blocking through the whistle every snap.   Madrid can also create huge impacts as a pass catcher; he's quick on his feet, runs precise routes, and has a reliable set of hands he uses to secure catches all over the field.“   Madrid put together a productive season last fall, ending his junior year with 21 receptions for 258 yards and 4 TDs, while also providing tons of key blocks all year long.   Currently, Madrid lists offers from Hendrix, Ottawa, McPherson, and more.   Madrid impacts his team's offense in many different ways- Huntsville will have to find a way to contain him early on. Be on the lookout this week.      [player_tooltip player_id='1799365' first='Parker' last='Reno'] is a talented senior RB out of Mortimer Jordan who's looking to have another big season on the ground.   "At 6'0 205, Reno is a physical back who can hurt defenses with his size, speed, and vision every time the ball is in his hands. Reno sees the field really well, is good at following his blockers, and does a great job maximizing every carry he gets.   I'm most impressed with Reno's physicality. He runs hard and has some serious contact balance he uses to shake off defenders, sometimes requiring multiple to bring him down. When you pair that with his speed and ability to find rushing lanes, it makes him a really tough back to stop."   Reno is a talented back who's shown he can carve up defenses on the ground. It'll be interesting to see how much of a workload he takes on this week; we'll have to be on the lookout.     <h1 class="wp-block-heading">DEFENSE</h1>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">HUNTSVILLE-</h2>    Michael Chobey is an every-down threat at EDGE that Mortimer Jordan will have to account for if they want to move the ball downfield.   "Chobey is a dominant run defender- he's quick off the snap, has violent hands, and has the speed, leverage, and strength to consistently work around OL and get to the ball carrier for stops. Chobey plays with relentless effort and is a reliable tackler who makes a lot of impressive plays in pursuit, sometimes working from across the field to make plays.   On passing downs, Chobey has similar success. He's an efficient pass rusher who generates tons of pressure, forces bad decisions, and racks up sacks nearly every time the quarterback drops back."   Chobey ended last year with 59 total tackles (30 solo, 13 for loss), 4.5 sacks, 5 hurries, 4 PBUs, and one FF.   Currently, Chobey lists offers from UAB and North Alabama!   Huntsville's defensive front has a lot of talent, and it starts with Michael Chobey. Keep an eye on him this week; he's a talented player with a big year ahead.      [player_tooltip player_id='1551728' first='Detarian' last='Cawthorne'] is another big piece of Huntsville's defensive front that Mortimer Jordan will have to watch out for on the interior.   "Cawthorne is a force in the trenches who generates a ton of push on the line every down. He is terrific against the run- consistently closing rushing lanes, fighting off blocks, and wrapping up the ball carrier at and behind the line of scrimmage- never giving up big gains on his side of the field.   Cawthorne can also generate a ton of interior pressure on pass plays, frequently helping his teammates collapse the pocket and coming away with some timely sacks. I'm impressed with Cawthorne's leverage- he gets low and generates a ton of power, consistently overwhelming smaller and less strong OG/Cs to dominate the line of scrimmage."   Cawthorne produced a ton for Huntsville last season, ending his sophomore year with 51 total tackles (20 solo, 7 for loss), 3.5 sacks, and 5 hurries   With Michael Chobey on the EDGE and Cawthorne on the interior, Mortimer Jordan will have to get the ball out as quickly as possible this week. Keep your eyes on the trenches.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">MORTIMER JORDAN-</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1654957' first='Zavier' last='Burrow'] is an up-and-coming DB who made a lot of impressive plays in Mortimer Jordan's secondary last fall.   “Burrow already has some great skills out in coverage- he's quick on his feet, is terrific at tracking opposing quarterbacks' eyes/the ball, and frequently uses his hands to either break up passes or haul in interceptions all over the field.   Burrow is also great at supporting the run. He's quick to get downhill, is terrific in pursuit, and has the tackling skills to not allow for any extra yards after he makes initial contact.“   Last season, Burrow recorded 40 total tackles (16 solo), 7 PBUs, and one INT.   I really liked what I saw in Burrow last season. He's a talented DB who can fly around the field to make plays on the ball- Huntsville will have to look out for him this week.     [player_tooltip player_id='1799233' first='DeAngelo' last='Williams'] is another talented DB in Mortimer Jordan's secondary who's seen his recruitment open up this offseason.   "[player_tooltip player_id='1799233' first='DeAngelo' last='Williams'] is a well-rounded DB who can lock up anyone on the field. He's quick on his feet, has great instincts, and is a ball hawk in coverage that always finds ways to get his hands on the ball.   Williams is just as talented playing against the run. He's quick to react, can cover ground fast, and has the tackling skills to create stops for little to no gain. I'm really impressed with Williams' versatility. He's a smart defender who finds ways to make plays almost every snap- we'll have to watch out for him this fall."   A little while back, Williams picked up his first offer from North Alabama!   Williams ended last season with 36 total tackles, 7 PBUs, 2 INTs, and one fumble recovery.   With how well Williams and [player_tooltip player_id='1654957' first='Zavier' last='Burrow'] have played in the secondary, I would be nervous to throw the ball around if I were Huntsville. I think these two could have big weeks, and even bigger seasons.
