Prep Redzone Louisiana released its latest 2027 rankings this past week with several new additions to the list heading into junior year.

Here's a look at the seven highest debuts ahead of the new high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1783095' first='Justin' last='Batiste'] — 6-1, 200 RB — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

One 2027 prospect enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign in the Bears' backfield this past fall, and another looks poised to follow suit this season as a junior. Batiste was the highest-ranking debut in the latest round of updates after an impressive junior varsity showing in 2024 and spring and summer of work in preparation for his bigger opportunity this year. He has good size, an explosive burst up field and reliable hands as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

[player_tooltip player_id='1782867' first='Prentice' last='Mackyeon Jr.'] — 6-1, 180 DB — John Curtis

The Patriots appear to have a solid wave of young talent on the rise in the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes, including the quick rising junior defensive back among those already starting to garner high-level college attention. Mackyeon appears instinctive and light on his feet on film, anticipating plays, changing directions in a hurry and making plays on the ball or on ball-carriers and receivers as an effective tackler in space.

[player_tooltip player_id='1801050' first='Jaden' last='Bayonne'] — 6-6, 275 DL — Alexandria

A promising defensive front is a notable piece of the Trojans' confidence in a follow-up to last years' historic season as they aim to prove themselves a consistent, annual contender. Bayonne has a great frame for the next level and a combination of strength and athleticism that help provide some positional versatility across the line.

[player_tooltip player_id='1782943' first='Kyron' last='Turner'] — 6-4, 185 DB — Haughton

Turner consistently showcased his athletic traits throughout the offseason from his eye-catching jumps during spring track season to his testing numbers this summer on the college camp circuit. The long, twitchy safety's impressive high jump (6 feet, 6 inches), long jump (19 feet, 10 inches), vertical jump (34.4 inches) and broad jump (10 feet, 4 inches) and 4.6-second 40-yard dash show on film as he changes directions and breaks on passes and ball-carriers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1801742' first='Jackson' last='Shaw'] — 6-6, 230 EDGE/DL — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

The Bears' defensive end is a tall, long athlete and a disruptive force off the edge with the ability to blow past blockers with his explosive get-off, strong hands, all-around quickness and good closing speed. Shaw picked up his first college offer this summer from Arkansas-Monticello, but there's an expectation around the Catholic (Baton Rouge) program that he is set for a big junior season ahead, which could kick his recruiting process into another gear.

[player_tooltip player_id='1801186' first='Eldric' last='Cambrice Jr.'] — 5-10, 160 DB — Edna Karr

As if the Cougars aren't loaded enough in the secondary with three Power-Four commits and another FBS target in the 2026 class, Cambrice is one of the emerging stars in the subsequent classes who looks ready to play a notable role this fall and then carry the torch in 2026. Like many of the seniors he's working alongside, he has good length to his frame, ball skills and physicality to his game to be a willing and effective tackles on the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1783068' first='Ryan' last='Harper Jr.'] — 6-6, 350 — Edna Karr

Harper is the player on this list of whom we've seen the least thus far, but the measurables are impossible to miss and the limited early clips available are intriguing. The Cougars' big right tackle appears to move well at his size and pack good balance, strong hands and a powerful punch that make him difficult for defenders to shed once he's engaged. As with Cambrice and the secondary mentioned above, Edna Karr is loaded with veteran talent up front this year, but appears to have another promising up-and-coming prospect already capable of earning some playing time.
