We're off and rolling with 2027 rankings content and we're continuing that by looking at some of the new players in our rankings. We combined our new players and stock-risers for both the quarterbacks and running backs, so now it's time to break down the receivers.

We have a lot of new guys and a lot of movement within the rankings, so we're separating stock-risers and new additions here. In this piece, we're looking at the 2027 WR new additions.

Walker hasn't yet made a huge impact on varsity, but he was an elite deep threat for Laney's JV squad last season, averaging over 23 yards a catch with nine touchdowns on just 19 receptions. If that production translates to the varsity level, he could soar in the rankings, given his impressive physical profile and height-weight-speed archetype.

We've seen Piver in multiple camps and left impressed with his movement skills. We only recently ranked him after seeing some of the Apex depth chart as we think he could make an impact this season after playing JV as a freshman and sophomore. If he can carve out a role on offense as an underneath route-runner, he'll have a nice career.

Franklinton's offense struggled to consistently move the ball last season, but Epps took some momentum into the offseason with 158 yards and two touchdowns in the final two games of the year. The Rams lose their leading receiver from 2024, so Epps could step up as the safety blanket and chain-mover.

Melton is the leading returning receiver for a good Pinecrest team and he should see his touches increase as a result this season. He's solidly built and strong after the catch, able to get up the field and make things happen with the ball in his hands. He's also solid when it comes to creating separation, something that helps him create passing lanes for his quarterback.

Don't let Claiborne's size fool you. He's very tough to bring down in the open field and thrives after the catch. According to several scouts in the eastern part of the state, he looks like a man on a mission this offseason and will look to improve on last year's promising 29-catch output.

This is an upside ranking, as Smith has yet to break out on the field. However, he has good size and speed and we think he could make an impact on the field as a junior. Apex Friendship loses multiple upperclassman contributors at receiver and Smith could fill the void.
