<p>Former Mountainside standout and two-way all-state player [player_tooltip player_id='457009' first='Sam' last='Vyhlidal'] is set to transfer to Lake Oswego High School for his senior year.</p>

<p>"I'm super excited, super pumped," he said. "The team is full of talent and a good group of guys that's going to push me to be better. That's what i've seen so far. Being surrounded by that is pushing me to be even better. I'm excited to see what this team could do." </p>

<p>The 6-foot-4, 225-pound linebacker/tight end has participated in summer workouts with the program since mid-June, which requires any incoming athlete to sign a formal letter of intent to transfer. </p>

<p>The Washington Huskies 2026 pledge said he was a little nervous about how he would be received by the state title contenders, but it proved to be a non-issue.</p>

<p>"First day, automatically, the tone was set and the vibes were good," Vyhlidal said. "They welcomed me and worked to build chemistry super quick." </p>

<p>Vyhlidal was one of the state's top two-way performers last season, earning first-team all-state honors at linebacker and second-team all-state at tight end.</p>

<p>That level of performance quickly accelerated his recruitment and he chose Washington over Arizona, Arizona State and others last month. </p>

<p>"I'm 100 percent committed," he said. "Washington is easy people, amazing coaches. I felt super welcome there. It's great guys. I'm going to be with those guys a lot and I wanted to make sure I liked that coaching staff. They are amazing. I'm 100 percent a Dawg."</p>

<p>Vyhlidal intends to become a mid-year graduate and plans to enroll at the University of Washington as soon as January.</p>

<p>Lake Oswego was already a serious 6A state title contender, but the Lakers have now added one of the state's biggest stars.</p>
