Every season, new RBs step onto the scene. In the Metro Detroit area, there's always a handful of prospects on track to play Division 1 college football. This season, there are five upperclassmen Running Backs in the greater Detroit area who I think will be game-breakers. Here's who to watch out for this season!

If there was a MI High School Football video game, Izaiah would be a 99 overall.

He's maxed out his stats. Blazing fast top speed, elite explosiveness, and some of the best contact balance I've ever seen. Izaiah is a threat to score each and every play from any and all areas of the field. If you want to see the best running back in Michigan, head to Carlson for a game.

The 2025 Detroit MLK offense is looking like the most balanced unit since the Dante Moore era.

Dukes is an elusive back through and through. Excels at making defenders miss. Can quickly and subtly adjust in tight space, or beat defenders near the boundary. Unless you have multiple defenders honing in on Dukes, he's probably earning more yards than expected.

King is always an incredible team. This year, they've got a great chance at another Championship.

One of the biggest rising stars in Michigan. Last year, Trenton showed flashes. At his best, he's able to easily break arm tackles and earn a ton of yards after contact. Against some of the worst teams on Belleville's schedule, Trenton should easily surpass 200 yards if given enough carries.

This offseason, Trenton has been hard at work. Putting up numbers in the weight room and proving his athletic ability at prospect camps. He's quickly emerged as a Power 4 prospect. Expected to have a monster Junior season.

A potential star in the Macomb area. Jeramiah is a phenomenal athlete and has shown plenty of flashes. When Dakota wants to spread the field, Jeramiah can be a major weapon in the screen/sweep game. When Dakota just wants to ground and pound, Jeramiah has shown flashes of hard-nosed running, especially within the red zone.

This season, he should be a premier player in Dakota's offense. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Jeramiah fares this season.

The biggest sleeper on this list, Jeremiah was a crucial part of Groves' 2024 squad but was behind a couple of D1-offered Senior RBs.

Jeremiah is also one of the most versatile backs on this list. Like all of these guys, Jeremiah is capable between the tackles and has the speed + explosiveness to score from anywhere on the field. I feel that Jeremiah can be utilized as a 3-down back, as well as a major open-field threat. I could even see him taking reps at slot.

What makes me really excited is Jeremiah's return ability. With marginal upgrades to vision and contact balance, Jeremiah could be a Top 5 returnman in Michigan.
