Standouts from the Skyline Cup

<p>While are 2026 Rankings it set to update this Tuesday July 22nd, I had to get to catch the second Annual Skyline Cup. It was a sunny/humid day over in Front Royal, where the Hawks hosted their 7v7 tournament and the stars were out to play. For the second year in a row the Osbourn Eagles took home the title and let me tell you they look like real contenders. The Eagles were certainly not the only team to have standouts, a break down of who else made their mark:</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Osbourn Park:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Very impressed with some of the catches Danquah made for the Yellow Jackets yesterday, he flat out makes plays. Numerous times I saw him snag passes over the middle or come away with 50/50 balls that he had no business hauling in. Derron will see a rankings boost in our upcoming 2026 class, he was one of the best players out their yesterday in Front Royal. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Coach Holland is working his tail off rebuilding Osbourn Park and he really has special talent in his 2028 class. [player_tooltip player_id='1664378' first='Jermaine' last='Keith'] had a nice day with a couple highlight worthy touchdowns, we missed him in our most recent rankings. Another sophomore set to have a nice season, Keith should be able to stretch the field for the Yellowjackets. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/JaKeith13_/status/1946763170493727100 </div></figure>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gar Field:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">While Hamlin didn't have all of his playmakers on hand he still made a plethora of good throws. It was humid, the field was slippery from the rain the night before, but the senior to be nearly lead the Red Wolves to the championship. Freeman had a good sophomore season which we covered in our team preview earlier this week, and he looks poised to be one of the top running backs in the district. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Skyline:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Until yesterday I had not had the privilege of seeing [player_tooltip player_id='1337962' first='Zayden' last='Burks'] play besides his game film. While I was very impressed, what stood out more was watching him make defenders look silly yesterday. This dude is a explosive and their are many reasons why he is highly ranked and lead the Hawks deep into the playoffs a year ago. He is explosive a crisp route runner and a playmaker, the kid really is the total package.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1236506' first='Marques' last='Lockhart'] nearly lead the Hawks to bringing him the Skyline Cup himself with his performance. At linebacker he is smart, physical and gets to the ball, playing tight end may be in his cards for the next level though. A crisp route runner and good hands, Lockhart is a stud. I can only imagine when the Hawks season begins how dominant he will be in the blocking game. Skyline loves to run the football and the have the horses up front to do it again.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Osbourn:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Perhaps the MVP on the day should not come as a surprise anymore with [player_tooltip player_id='1639052' first='Caleb' last='Smoot'] being the 6th ranked prospect in the state. I swear every time we cover him he looks more dominant, as a rising sophomore he looks college bound already. Smoot consistently shut down opposing defenders it was very difficult for any squad to score on the Eagles defense. </p>   <p>He has a swagger to go with him and him and his teammates are fun to watch. By seasons end he will have many Division 1 suitors begging to come visit their campus. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">I knew Donut Jackson was going to have a nice day even before I arrived. What I didn't anticipate was him throwing dimes all day, it felt like at one point he didn't have 1 incompletion. The 7th ranked prospect in the state for good reason, [player_tooltip player_id='1422269' first='Anthony' last='Jackson'] is and has been the real deal.
