A new season is quickly approaching. Updated rankings are being released, and we'll be kicking off preseason coverage before long.

It's still early July, however. There's plenty of time to keep rolling out student-athlete evaluations as we grow our data base here at Prep Redzone Iowa.

Here's a look at a group of seniors worthy of reports on their profile pages, which they now have:

Johnson was a bright spot for an Ames squad that experienced some tough times in 2024. Johnson's return and that other talented Little Cyclones give the team hope for better days ahead. For his part, Johnson set the foundation for a breakout senior campaign. As an 11th-grader last year, he produced 24.0 tackles (17 solo, 6.5 TFL), 6.0 sacks and four fumble recoveries. In short, Johnson disrupts the offense's plan. We see how he accomplishes that when watching his highlight video. He's unusually quick coming off of the edge, often giving the OT little chance to lock him up. Johnson's hands are active in pass rush. His skills would work as an end in a 4-man front or at outside linebacker with three down linemen.

As a junior in 2024, Mount found ways to contribute on both sides of the ball. He rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown, and caught five balls for 38 yards and a score. Defensively, Mount managed 28.0 tackles (15 solo, 2.5 TFL) and recovered a fumble. On Mount's Hudl page, his highlights reveal an interesting prospect that could entertain colleges at multiple positions thanks to speed and athleticism. Mount would fit at safety on the next level thanks to fluid movements, explosiveness and an ability to make plays in space.

Wielard contributed on offense last season, seeing time at quarterback. He really stood out defensively, however. Wielard totaled 49.5 tackles (28 solo, 4.0 TFL) and intercepted as pass. His junior highlight video features him operating at linebacker. Wielard diagnoses plays well pre-snap, positioning himself to fire through a gap after getting a read on the ball carrier. He smoothly peels back into coverage when recognizing a pass play. While Wielard plays fast, he's also under control and balanced, breaking down before tackling with technical soundness.

Centennial leaned heavily on a senior running back in 2024, paving the way for Morgan to fill that role this season. He made the most of his opportunities during the three games in which he appeared as a junior. Morgan rushed for 318 yards (7.8 YPC) and a touchdown. He also caught nine passes for 57 yards. During his 11th-grade highlight video, Morgan flashes a lot of upside. There's a mix of speed and power in his game. He reaches the edge quickly and can ding defenses between the tackles, too. Morgan has another gear in the open field, making him capable of going the distance. If healthy, he'll be one of the top backs in the state and should remind colleges of that.

A unique performer, Davis ranked as one of the Wildcats top receivers and also handled kickoff duties for a team that reached the Class 3A state championship game. He caught 31 passes for 496 yards (16.0 YPC) and seven touchdowns. Davis also booted 20 touchbacks kicking off. During his junior highlight video, Davis proves effective as a versatile pass catcher capable of beating defenses on different levels. He operates well underneath with crisp routes and also can get deep to take the top off. With two of Humboldt's top wideouts gone due to graduation, it wouldn't be surprising to see Davis' workload increase, and with it, more college attention come his way.

Quaid handled most of the Wolves' kickoff duties last season. With the graduation of the starting place-kicker, he should add that responsibility in 2025. Quaid shows off his leg strength during his junior highlight video. He gets the ball up in the air with plenty of distance to set up his coverage team for success. Quaid looks to be proficient at directional kicking with an ability to the ball in tough spots for the returner. Kohl's Kicking has good things to say about Quaid's upside.
