Preseason Review - La Porte Bulldogs

Coming off an impressive 10-4 overall record and a perfect 7-0 run in district play, the La Porte Bulldogs made noise in the 2024 season under the leadership of head coach Kevin Berneathy. Now, with momentum on their side and a winning culture in place, the Bulldogs are hungry to replicate that success and make another deep run in 2025. He shows a strong command of the offense and processes information quickly pre and post snap. His footwork in the pocket is clean, allowing him to reset and deliver with accuracy even under pressure. Aiden's arm strength stands out on intermediate throws especially on digs, outs, and seam balls and he shows touch when layering passes over defenders.        Ryker is a versatile tight end who brings a physical edge to the field. He's a reliable target in the passing game with soft hands and the ability to make contested catches over the middle. Ryker does a great job using his frame to shield defenders and shows natural body control when adjusting to off target throws.   As a blocker, he's tough and willing whether it's sealing the edge or working inside to open up running lanes. Ryker plays with great effort and finishes blocks, making him a valuable asset in both run-heavy and spread formations. He can line up in-line, split out wide, or in the H-back role, giving his offense flexibility in personnel and formations.      Caden may not be the biggest linebacker on the field, but he plays with a motor that never stops and a nose for the football. He's instinctive, tough, and always around the ball whether it's slipping through blocks to make a tackle for loss or tracking down plays from sideline to sideline. His ability to diagnose plays quickly and react with urgency makes up for any size disadvantage      Peyton's season was cut short due to a wrist injury, but now he's back fully healthy and making noise. The Class of 2028 wideout has been active on the camp circuit, showing off his speed, sharp route running, and natural ball skills. His talent has already caught the attention of college programs, earning him offers from Arizona State, Houston, Texas Tech, TCU, and UTSA.   Peyton brings explosiveness and polish to the receiver position. He creates separation with ease, tracks the deep ball well, and has the body control to make tough catches in traffic. Whether it's stretching the field or working underneath, Peyton consistently finds ways to get open and make plays.   With his full potential still ahead of him, Peyton is already proving he's one of the top young receivers to watch in the country.      Sean is a dynamic running back who runs with power, balance, and burst. A natural playmaker out of the backfield, he's already picked up offers from Nebraska, TCU, and Arizona State a reflection of both his talent and upside.   What stands out about Sean is his vision and patience he sets up blocks well and explodes through the hole when it opens. He runs with a low center of gravity, finishes runs with authority, and has the agility to make defenders miss in space. Whether it's first and 10 or 3rd and short, Sean is a reliable weapon who can move the chains and break big plays.      Grady is a tone setter up front the kind of offensive lineman who brings a physical mindset to every snap. He plays with a relentless motor and finishes blocks through the whistle, consistently creating movement in the run game. What makes Grady stand out is his ability to stay balanced and under control while delivering power at the point of attack.   In pass protection, Grady shows patience and strong hand placement. He's able to mirror defenders without overextending and has the core strength to absorb bull rushes. His footwork continues to develop, but he already plays with a strong foundation and awareness of defensive stunts and twists.      Jake Hayman is a powerful and aggressive offensive lineman who excels at imposing his will in the run game. He consistently drives defenders off the line with strong initial punch and impressive leverage. Jake's lower body strength allows him to sustain blocks and open running lanes for his backs.   In pass protection, Jake shows quick hands and solid footwork, giving him the ability to handle both speed rushers and power moves. He understands defensive alignments and adjusts well to blitzes and stunts, keeping the pocket clean for his quarterback.      Luke is a disruptive force on the defensive line who consistently gets into the backfield and impacts plays in the run and pass game. He plays with explosive first step quickness off the snap and uses his hands effectively to shed blocks and create pressure.   While not the biggest lineman, Luke compensates with excellent technique and leverage, allowing him to hold his ground against larger offensive linemen. His motor never quits he pursues plays sideline to sideline and finishes with intensity.      Though Icsom didn't see extensive playing time, he made every snap count whenever he hit the field. His impact is felt immediately through his disruptive presence and ability to make plays happen in critical moments. Icsom shows quickness off the ball and an aggressive mindset that allows him to penetrate gaps and disrupt the offense's rhythm.      Nehemiah is a freshman who's already started making his mark by earning valuable playing time early in his career. Despite being new to the varsity level, he shows poise and a willingness to learn on every snap. His athleticism and effort stand out, giving coaches confidence to trust him in game situations.      Ashton is a promising running back set to be a valuable addition to the Bulldogs' backfield. He brings a combination of quickness and vision that allows him to find and hit holes decisively. Ashton's balance and agility make him tough to bring down in open space, and he shows the patience to set up blocks and make defenders miss.      Joshua is a backup quarterback hungry for his shot. He's been putting in the work behind the scenes, learning the system, sharpening his mechanics, and staying ready. With a chip on his shoulder and something to prove, Joshua's focused on making the most of every rep and climbing the depth chart.      Blake may not have the biggest frame or the longest reach, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for with quickness, instincts, and tenacity. He's a sure tackler in space and uses his speed to stay tight on receivers, making it difficult to separate.      David combines speed and power to beat offensive tackles off the snap, using a variety of moves to get to the quarterback. His burst off the edge forces hurried throws and creates turnovers.      Dyson is a dynamic wide receiver with the speed and hands to be a consistent threat downfield. He runs sharp routes and creates separation with quick cuts and sudden bursts. Dyson's ability to track the ball in the air and adjust mid route makes him reliable in contested catch situations.     With a dominant district run in 2024 and plenty of returning momentum, La Porte enters the 2025 season with high expectations. Head coach Kevin Berneathy has built a tough, disciplined program that knows how to win, and the Bulldogs are focused on proving that last year's success was just the beginning. If they can stay consistent and take care of business in district play again, La Porte has all the tools to make another deep playoff push this fall.
