Immediately after losing to Tampa Bay Tech in the second round of the state playoffs, breaking a late season seven game losing streak, there were plenty of disappointed players in the College Park area of Orlando.

That loss, which dashed any hopes of getting to Miami to play for the 5A state championship also marked the last game for head coach Cameron Duke, who led the Eagles for eight seasons, posting an impressive 85-15 record.

As the future of this program, which had won 150 games in 14 years, was in limbo, the announcement of Patrick Browning was made.

While he was not a local coach, and very few knew about his success, Browning carved out quite a career of his own as a head coach at Pike Road, Alabama, bringing plenty of his own winning pedigree. During his stint at Pike Road — a program he helped start — Browning's squads finished with an overall record of 66-7, three region titles and a state championship in 2021.

His first media day was impressive, bringing five players to the event.

2026 – Aiden Anderson, DL, 6'1, 240 – 3.5 GPA. Made an impression with 12 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 26 quarterback pressures and 54 tackles. Gets off the ball quickly, using his strength, skill and athleticism. Has a chance to be very special this coming season.

2026 – [player_tooltip player_id='1250079' first='Ben' last='Bankowitz'], OL, 6'3, 280 – 4.0 GPA. Ever since his freshman season, here is someone who has been an anchor up front for this program. Has worked hard and it shows in his game. Will be one of the best in the central Florida area. Is a true team leader. Committed to attend Appalachian State.

2026 – Justin “J.J.” Edwards, LB, 6'2, 205 – 3.3 GPA. This versatile talent is a secret no more as he showed last season and into the spring and summer.

2026 – Carter Emanuel, QB, 6'2, 205 – 4.2 GPA. This University of Connecticut commitment was certainly one of the under-the-radar prospects in the central Florida area. After throwing for 2,103 yards and 25 touchdowns in his junior season, he is back to help lead this program to the state title game. An impressive all-around prospect that has shown plenty of accuracy and arm strength.
