A hectic June of recruiting activity saw dozens of rising seniors announce college commitments.

Here's a look at some of the defensive backs who helped headline the decisions.

[player_tooltip player_id='920694' first='Julian' last='Burns'] — 6-2, 190 DB — Neville —> North Carolina

and [player_tooltip player_id='1243414' first='Jayden' last='Reed'] — 5-11, 175 DB — Neville —> Louisiana (Lafayette)

The Tigers' safety duo determined their respective college plans during June with Burns deciding to join new North Carolina coach Bill Belichick and company in Chapel Hill, N.C., and Reed to continue the Neville pipeline to Lafayette to play for the Ragin' Cajuns. Both players are capable in coverage, including a pair of interceptions each this past fall, but have made their presence most felt as two of the more active and hard-hitting defensive backs in the state. Reed racked up 124 tackles, including a pair of sacks and a forced fumble, while Burns had 81 tackles and a slew of jarring pass breakups.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237615' first='Dezyrian' last='Ellis'] — 6-2, 185 QB/ATH — Franklin Parish —> LSU

"Pook" consistently shared throughout his recruiting process that finding an opportunity to play quarterback at the next level was less of a priority than finding the right overall program fit with a place that felt like home at the next level. And the opportunity to play for the home-state Tigers and become the first prospect from his high school to do so (since the parish's consolidation two decades ago) was too good to pass. Ellis joined Havon Finney Jr. (Los Angeles) as the two corners in LSU's class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1345269' first='Luke' last='Green'] — 6-1, 180 DB — Lafayette Christian —> Louisiana (Lafayette)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1601816' first='Braylon' last='Walker'] — 6-0, 150 QB/ATH — Lafayette Christian —> Louisiana (Lafayette)

Two of Lafayette Christian's talented rising senior prospects announced their commitments to the hometown Ragin' Cajuns on back-to-back days. Green has excelled as a physical and productive tackling machine more than comfortable spending much of his time in the box and navigating traffic in run support, while the same speed and all-around athleticism that have made Walker lethal with the ball in his hands at quarterback make him an intriguing prospect to transition to corner at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1602060' first='Damien' last='Richard II'] — 5-11, 170 DB — Destrehan —> Louisiana Tech

"Deuce" continued another solid Bulldogs' recruiting class within the state, including in the secondary in particular in 2026, and is poised to mark a second straight class in which they were able to land a prospect from perennial power Destrehan. Richard is a speedy corner with good timing and ball skills he showed off with some of his biggest highlights of the season coming during the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='401964' first='Jackson' last='Williams'] — 6-2, 175 DB — Archbishop Shaw —> Tulane

The Green Wave dipped across the river to keep a promising and versatile defensive back in-state over options from around the region. Williams is a long, lean athlete who has showcased his physicality and instincts at safety thus far in his career, but is making the transition this year to play more corner.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237623' first='Maurice' last='Williams'] Jr. — 5-11, 170 DB — Edna Karr —> Colorado

Colorado managed to flip the Cougars' standout cornerback from Liberty with the opportunity to compete at the Power-Four level and learn under coach Deion Sanders, a Hall-of-Famer at the position. Williams is a veteran leader in a loaded Edna Karr secondary, a versatile defensive back with good ball skills who worked some at safety this offseason.
