On Tuesday, June 3, 2025 I was personally invited back for the third consecutive year by Fairleigh Dickinson University Head Football Coach Anthony Van Curen to cover his Football Mega Camp. With many other universities now following suit with mega camps of their own, Van Curen's is the O.G. in the area and, quite frankly, everyone is just biting off his style. However, at this point the term “mega” is probably an understatement to describe his event.

In what I would consider more of a celebration of the game, between the 560+ prospects registered, 100+ college coaches watching, clinicians, parents, and high school staffs there were literally around 1000 people coming out to compete, make connections, and enjoy an evening sample taste of football. As has become the norm for Van Curen's baby, the event was organized, structured, ran well, and was highly competitive.

In addition to eyeing prospects up, measuring their combine performances (40-yard dash, Pro Agility, Broad Jump), I was fortunate enough to receive unimpeded access to the grounds to evaluate and scout the talent on hand. In this article, I share my notes for the position group mentioned in its title.

[player_tooltip player_id='1557303' first='George' last='Walsh'] plays ball like he has been bullying Bennys his whole life. The Point Pleasant Borough product did a great job of showcasing his upper body strength by pressing offenders off of him. Beyond that, Walsh showed closing speed and a quick step once he turned the corner and got past his matchup... Cedar Creek's [player_tooltip player_id='1703379' first='John' last='Beck'] might be a name to stay up on for this fall. As he prepares for his senior campaign, Beck is equipped with a loaded, strong rip that he executes tight to his matchups body. From the naked eye, it appears as though he will earn a hold call or two if he does not shed the block.

The Brick City's Barringer sent [player_tooltip player_id='1198324' first='Sincere' last='Charles'] a town-or-two over to Union to compete in front of the college coaches in attendance. Charles had a good get off that I would describe as quick and where he gained significant ground within his first two steps. From there, Charles, masterfully, fired out low as he worked into the frame of is opponent up-and-in... As the old adage goes, you must pass rush with a plan. These words have been bestowed upon [player_tooltip player_id='1703380' first='Michael' last='Davis']. The East Orange looked as though he scouting his matchup, planned, hit, and won with a very good snatch move... From East Orange to West Orange, [player_tooltip player_id='1703381' first='Faheem' last='Issah'] appears to have a strong idea as to how to create pressure. Issah threatened with speed and set up a textbook pin & spin to win his rep. With this sort of pressure, the Mountaineers might not need to bring extra pressure in their 3-man front.
