2028 Rankings Update: QB

As we get closer and closer to the start of the 2025 high school football season, we have begun a new round of rankings update. The latest class to be updated in the state of Kentucky is the class of 2028. With these rankings being posted, I will be taking the next week to break these rankings down by position. To kick things off, here are our top quarterbacks in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky.    [player_tooltip player_id='1217665' first='Chase' last='Bell'] is a player who has quickly climbed up our radar this offseason. He served as a backup as a freshman but he has been very impressive during the camp and 7 on 7 circuit this summer. Bell has a very strong arm which he uses to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. He has also shown the accuracy to fit passes into tight windows where only his intended receiver has a chance to make the catch. Chase currently holds offers from Maryland, Eastern Kentucky, and Bethune-Cookman, and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop over the next few seasons.     [player_tooltip player_id='1205218' first='Miles' last='Hollon'] had a strong freshman year as Breathitt County's starting quarterback, completing 115/190 passes for 1,949 yards, 21 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 12 games. Hollon has impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit receivers quickly out of their breaks so that they can make catches in stride. He also has the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game. Miles also scored one rushing touchdown as a freshman. Hollon doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who college coaches should keep a close eye on moving forward.     [player_tooltip player_id='1056924' first='Knox' last='Barrett'] is another quarterback who impressed as a freshman, completing 80/124 passes for 1,272 yards, 17 touchdowns, and five interceptions in 11 games. Barrett has impressive pocket mobility, showing the ability to maneuver in the pocket to avoid pressure and escape when needed while keeping his eyes down the field to find the open receiver. He also throws a nice deep ball, showing the arm strength to stretch the field and touch to put the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. Barrett also scored one rushing touchdown as a freshman. Knox doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to continue to keep an eye on going into his sophomore year.     [player_tooltip player_id='1604542' first='William' last='Shoptaw'] served as a backup this past season but he was impressive when put into action, completing 18/43 passes for 213 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. Shoptaw puts a ton of zip on his passes which is very useful when fitting passes into tight windows. He has also shown a great feel for pressure, showing the ability to escape the pocket while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. William will be a quarterback for college coaches to keep an eye on as he takes the reins as the starting quarterback this season.     To wrap up our top five quarterbacks in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='1701075' first='Brady' last='Skidmore']. Brady had a solid freshman year as a starting quarterback, completing 87/157 passes for 1,566 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 10 games. Skidmore has impressive arm strength which he uses to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. He has also shown impressive dual-threat ability, leading his team in rushing as a freshman with 151 carries for 763 yards and 11 touchdowns. Brady has the speed and elusiveness to avoid pressure then pick up big gains with his legs once he leaves the pocket. Skidmore should definitely be a player to keep an eye on over the next three seasons.
