Living in the moment is sometimes the best way to go.

After the graduation of 34 seniors from the 2024 team that finished 7-4 overall, concluding with a second round loss to Dutch Fork in the playoffs, there's no question that Boiling Springs will have some youth in some areas, but senior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1036731' first='Dennis' last='Glenn Jr'] (pictured above) told us at the Prep Redzone Media Day at Hillcrest on June 27, that the focus is on where they are: Right here. Right now.

“Not hyping anything up. Not low playing anything so that as soon as the season comes, we can attack it to the best of our ability,” Glenn said.

The biggest question that the Bulldogs offensively will have to answer is who will replace graduated quarterback Lincoln Huskey? Bulldogs' head coach Matt Reel says it is a three-man race between Josh Kahl, Mason Camp and Imri Logan. He says that all three of them are battling it out daily and the depth chart has changed from day-to-day as well.

“They all have areas they have to develop in. It may be Week Zero before we say, hey, look, this is our guy. And then at that point, it may be, two guys play, or might be all three guys playing. I don't know what that's going to look like. But you know, Coach (Brian) Turk (offensive coordinator/QB coach) does a really good job with our quarterbacks and our offense and we're evaluating guys every single day, and they're competing every single day,” Reel said.

On defense, the secondary should be a strength with Tyvion Hall back at safety and [player_tooltip player_id='1708292' first='Kuron' last='Nesbitt'] at the cornerback position along with Jase Seesholtz at linebacker. Reel expects CJ Burke to be one of the interior linemen. And there's one more big piece to the puzzle on defense, which we'll touch on more in a moment.

As the season opener against Greer on August 22 inches closer, Reel echoed the thoughts of Glenn in that they want to get back to the core basics of what's been successful for them.

“That's just being tough, being very disciplined and being dedicated to that weight room. We do that a lot during the summer as well, but, you know, it's just different when you start getting close to those first scrimmage dates and then that first week zero game against Greer.”

STARS SET TO SHINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1592400' first='Grayson' last='Crowe'] WR, 2026 – Crowe finished third on the team in 2024 in receiving yards with 287 and two touchdowns. He will be counted on as one of the senior leaders on the Bulldog offense that lost a lot of production at the receiver position. He lined up in the slot and was effective in the quick passing game, and he showed an ability to go up and high point the ball as well. He's been to camps at Clemson, Gardner-Webb and Western Carolina this summer.

Expectations/improvements heading into 2025: “I think we need to have more leadership. Everybody starts coming together, playing like a team more because I feel like a lot of people left last year. We have to have people step up into those roles and start playing as a team. I've been working on trying to be more of a vocal leader and obviously, trying to improve my game, but from a leadership standpoint I've been trying to be more vocal. Obviously somebody has to be that vocal leader and I've been trying to step into that.”

[player_tooltip player_id='1036731' first='Dennis' last='Glenn Jr'] DL, 2027 – Glenn had a solid sophomore year, finishing with 9 solo tackles and six tackles for a loss. He has a motor that is running at all times and he made life difficult on Friday nights for opposing quarterbacks last year with his pursuit angles and can disengage the opposing linemen well.

Expectations/improvements heading into 2025: “I think one thing I need to work on is taking a hold of the big moments, you know? When the spotlight's on, this is the moment that can change the game. There were a lot of plays that we had changed our whole season, so really taking advantage of the big moments, that can definitely change our upcoming season.

Continued: I've tried to work on being more positive with the guys. They definitely listen better that way when you encourage and personally, just working, using my hands more, trying to build endurance so I can have a high motor and play at a high level for longer.”

[player_tooltip player_id='473009' first='Jeremiah' last='Favorite'] DB, 2026 – The Michigan State commit is the unquestioned leader of the Bulldogs' defense in 2025. The No. 2 player at the defensive back position in the Prep Redzone Class of 2026 rankings is a ball hawk, and tough to throw the ball against. He can cover the whole field and if you try to test him, it may be a pick six. He made one play against Byrnes last year where it looked like the quarterback would go in for a score, but he not only prevented the score, he forced a fumble.

Reel on Favorite: "He is a technique junkie. He works countless hours outside of our practice time. He reviews himself. I caught him grading himself from a year ago. And talking trash about how bad that works. He's not a guy that's gotten caught up in the recruiting process. And it's not hard to do. I mean, you've got 30, 40 offers. Everybody's telling you how good you are, telling you how great you are. You know, but he's not been that guy. He's very grounded. He's a very mature 18 year old. (Michigan State) is going to get a true football guy. And I'm just happy for him and his family.”

[player_tooltip player_id='1592395' first='TJ' last='Collins'] LB, 2026 – Collins is a two-year starter for the Bulldogs' defense at the linebacker position. He had a solid junior season, finishing with 21 total tackles. He is a sure tackler in space and is hard to run inside against.

FILM REVIEW

[player_tooltip player_id='1639803' first='Tre' last='Suber'] WR, 2026 – Suber transferred in from Broome, and the Bulldogs gained a tall receiver who runs great routes. He can make people miss and get yards after the catch. There was one play on his film where he caught a screen, changed direction and ran to the other sideline to score a touchdown.

KEY LOSSES

Lincoln Huskey QB – Huskey threw for 1823 yards and 20 touchdowns during his senior season with the Bulldogs. They will look to replace his production.

Javen Chimm RB – Chimm was the team's leading rusher, running for 237 yards and three touchdowns.

UP AND COMING POTENTIAL

Jaden Samuel WR, 2026 – Samuel is another young guy that Reel is looking to fill a spot at the receiver position. He lines up primarily on the outside and can make plays in the quick passing game. He has the speed to outrun defenders as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1665369' first='Djay' last='Leak'] WR – Leak is a speedy and quick receiver who can take a quick pass and get up field for a 10 to 15 yard gain. He's a guy who was on the JV team last year who Reel was high on.

Reel calls Grate a hidden gem for the Bulldogs' offense. Grate has great size at the tight end position, and has great hands to be able to catch the ball and get up field quickly for yards especially on play action passes. He can also flex out at receiver and go up high and make catches that way.
