I release my last piece of scouting reports from the UWO Lake Show MEGA Camp almost two weeks ago already. We finish up with our quick hitters from multiple positions that caught our attention in the live evals we got last Friday. With all the talent we have already written about and with this group of 2026s, this tells me just how stacked the talent is in Illinois and Wisconsin is with this 2026 class, as there is no reason why some of these athletes shouldn't have their offers yet.

JJ Barnes, DE, Morton, IL 2026 Twitter

I surely would say that JJ was in my top-tier for the best defensive ends I watched in attendance at the UWO Lake Show MEGA Camp. I was intrigued with the notable strength in the hands that JJ possessed as it didn't take long to notice how fluid he was with that strength getting off his blocks in the reps I watched. It also didn't take long to notice JJ's intense motor he brought in his reps in Oshkosh as I felt this young man played with high stamina in every rep he was given. He certainly is a wirey athlete that surely looks like a defensive end at the next-level. JJ is another Illinois prospect that surprises the heck out of me that he doesn't have an offer yet.

Taylor Hackbarth, DE, Norwood-Young America, MN 2026 Twitter

Taylor is one of Augustana's newest defensive end commits, but prior to committing had himself a strong showing at the UWO Lake Show MEGA Camp. He was one of the most technically sound defensive ends I watched during the day by far. Taylor also showed off a quick twitch that was quite affluent off the snap and showed that off consistently thru the individual and 1v1 drills I watched. Taylor also showed off how fluid he was again with his athletic movement, as I saw an uptick even from the Minnesota camp I saw him at the same week of the Oshkosh MEGA Camp. The Vikings surely locked in a good one in these eyes, with another NYA defensive linemen joining them in back to back years!

Dante Matta, RB, De Pere, WI 2026 Twitter

Another running back that got double the attention at the Lake Show MEGA Camp was 2026 running Dante Matta out of De Pere. The 5'7 170 pounder ran back to back 4.75s in the 40-yard dash, 33.3 in the vertical jump, an eye-catching 4.18 in the pro agility, and back to back 7.25s in the L-drill which to me shows off plenty of consistency in our live eval on Dante in Oshkosh. This young man is extremely twitchy in tight space and is a much more durable athlete than you would expect for his size. The consistency Dante brought to the table in every rep was evident as one roll of the tape you wouldn't believe how well put together this kid's lower body is. UWO made a super smart move offering this young man after camp and I wouldn't be surprised if other college programs follow suit cause this kid's tape too is fun to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='948124' first='Shon' last='Abbas'], RB, Tomah, WI 2026 Twitter

Another 2026 running back that caught my attention early in testing and later in the session was [player_tooltip player_id='948124' first='Shon' last='Abbas'] of Tomah. He ran a 4.78 40-yard dash although the game speed I watched in the live reps appeared that this kid moves faster than what a 40-yard dash might show you. One Shon's best testing numbers showed off with his vertical jump, as he went up over 34 inches which to me shows off the explosiveness this kid has out there. Shon showed off during 1v1 reps that he has that suddenness to play at the next-level as one particular rep showed me how productive his vision can be to get to the open field quickly. High academic target with over 3.9 GPA and 28 ACT that more college coaches should take a look at in the WIAC or MIAC.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220683' first='Shaundel' last='Williams'], WR, South Milwaukee, WI 2026 Twitter

Shaundel has seen his recruitment pick up since the UWO Lake Show MEGA Camp, picking up up two Division II offers in the meantime as others have started to see what we saw in our live eval in Oshkosh that had us and some college coaches fired up. You couldn't miss on Shaundel's long arms that didn't take long for him to use that long catch radius to his advantage in the reps I got to watch. Shaundel was one of the most versatile wide receivers I saw in attendance as you could tell based on the reps I watched that he could be a deep threat, could win in the open field with his long strides, and more based on what I gauged during individual drills. Surely a 2026 WR on the rise out of South Milwaukee.

Gabriel Talla, LB, Waukesha Catholic Memorial, WI 2026 Twitter

I didn't watch as many reps as I would have liked out of Gabriel in Oshkosh, but what skillset that did standout to me is an essential to playing the linebacker position. Out of the linebackers I watched, I could tell that Gabriel had one of the biggest motors I saw as this kid played with a presence that was evident with the reps I was able to watch. The 5'9 209 pounder from Catholic Memorial, also ran a 4.75 40-yard dash and ran a 4.5 in the shuttle and was an All-Conference linebacker as a junior for the Wisconsin powerhouse out of Waukesha. Two clicks of his tape, you can also gauge the football IQ that Gabriel has at his disposal. Totally a hidden gem at the moment in my eyes in this 2026 Wisconsin class.
