Top Athlete's from MSU Middle school prospect camp

Missouri state put on such a great high school prospect camp, that I decided to see what the young PrepRedZoneNext athletes had to offer. There was such a good turn out with over 60 middle school athletes ready to show their abilities on the football field. Again, I would like to thank Head coach Ryan Beard and the rest of the coaching staff for letting me evaluate these young prospects, I had a blast watching these young future stars.   Out of all the prospects that attended this camp these six athletes really separated themselves from the rest of the pack and had me interested to watch them in the future.    A tall, long striding athlete defines big tight end Spencer Nichols.   Nichols wasn't hard to miss last weekend at the MSU camp being the tallest athlete in attendance. I first encountered Nichols in the OFL league last year for the Glendale falcons and he let me know this was his first year playing football, and his progression to what he has become now as a player has been great to witness.   Spencer is paired with very long arms that he used very well to pluck the football at the highest point at camp. Also paired with long legs that he uses to cover ground pretty fast, and he has developed the ability to use his body to shield off defenders from the ball. On top of being a receiving threat he is pretty darn good with his hand in the ground at defensive end.   Keep an eye out for Spencer Nichols.     [player_tooltip player_id='1690970' first='Deuce' last='Franklin'] is Wise beyond his years and has a very bright future.   Young [player_tooltip player_id='1690970' first='Deuce' last='Franklin'] participated in both the high school and middle school portion of MSU camp and at both sessions proved that he is just a natural athlete. He moved through each drill conducted so effortlessly that you can tell this young man is a hard-working individual that loves the game of football. If this is the Franklin, we are witnessing play football now I can't wait to see his progress with a couple of years of solid football ahead of him not to mention when he reaches high school football.   Deuce looked explosive in all of the receiver drills, showing off his quick twitchy route running he can really stick his foot in the ground and go then he pairs that ability by having some of the best hands I have seen from a player so young.   These next couple years are going to be fun to watch Franklin in all sports.       Super athletic with blinding speed and quickness is young [player_tooltip player_id='1694457' first='Deon' last='Reed'].   One of Reed's best attributes has to be his speed on the football field, not only is he straight line fast but he moves laterally very quickly. Deon shows that he is pretty advanced in the art of his route running and has been doing this very early in his life. The little subtle movements at the top his routes and his releases show traits of being advanced for his age.   Before the start of camp, the attendee's decided to run some routes and 1-on-1's and Reed really showed his ability to be a great separator, defensive backs really had a tough time staying with him, he never lost a rep. He did a wonderful job going through each drill conducted by the coaching staff and used soft hands catching the ball away from his frame.   Deon also shows versatility playing RB, CB and returning kicks. While also being a standout in track.       [player_tooltip player_id='1732333' first='Kolton' last='Jacobs'] is poised with a built-in rocket for a right arm.   [player_tooltip player_id='1732333' first='Kolton' last='Jacobs'] really showed last weekend that he was the best QB at the middle school MSU camp. He is a natural quarterback that can effortlessly throw the football 40-45 yards with a flick of the wrist. It was easy to notice his talent even before camp when he delivered pass after pass right on the money to his receivers running their routes.   Jacobs also played spring football for the Glendale Falcons, and 7on7 for Southwest7, he impressed me when he played for both of those organizations. There isn't a throw that Jacobs cannot make on the football field, and he is just starting to notice his abilities and is slowly starting to gain confidence which is the most important quality for a quarterback.   I cannot wait to watch Jacobs develop into a great football player.       Mr. Scott is a smooth route running tall wideout.   This is the first time I have received the opportunity to witness Scott play football and I left Springfield, Missouri very pleased with his future. He is about 5'10 and I believe he still has room to grow into his frame. Scott is a long, lean athlete that is a natural wide receiver, usually at this age catching the football can be a struggle especially while running routes. But Scott is such a natural pass-catcher.   Braylon is born to be flanked out wide and run a vertical "9" route so he can high point the football over the corner. He also showed some versatility at camp by playing some defensive back and looked pretty good in his back pedal and flipping his hips.   Braylon Scott is and will be a heck of a football player.     Thomas was a route running technician at MSU camp.   When you watch younger prospects sometimes you can spot out which one of these young prospects played football just a little bit longer than others. [player_tooltip player_id='1702410' first='Ian' last='Thomas'] plays football like he played from birth; he was definitely in the pack of kids that just have more experience than the others. He might have had the best footwork out of anyone in the camp, he shows the slight little nuances in his route-running that is beyond his years.   Another standout in the 1-on-1's before camp even started, Thomas regularly got the best of corners by just knowing when to get to his spot and using his phenomenal football tracking skills to get in the right position to snag the pass.   Thomas is just in the beginning phases of his football career, and I can say comfortably say he will have a long career.
