The 2025 football season will be here before we know it.

Over the course of the next two months, teams will participate in workouts galore leading up to the start of preseason camp. And while the summer is sure to include mass transfers - thanks to the SCHSL's new policy - we have enough information to start making some educated assumptions about each team's likely MVP.

In a rejuvenated Region VI-4A, South Carolina's Lowcountry showed last fall how many strides it could take. This fall, we should see even more.

BEAUFORT EAGLES

[player_tooltip player_id='617718' first='Kenshon' last='Speaks'] OL, 2026

The Eagles are going to be replacing their starting quarterback and tailback. There are going to be some hiccups along the way in both the passing and rushing plans. But what Beaufort does have is one of the state's top offensive linemen in Speaks. He's entering his fourth year as a starter and while he's going to originate at left tackle, he can shift to guard in different situations and gives the Eagles all the power they could use from his spot. That will be huge as Beaufort shifts back to more of the run-based offense it utilized during its state championship run in 2022.

BISHOP ENGLAND BATTLING BISHOPS

[player_tooltip player_id='1592310' first='Quinn' last='Mahoney'] QB, 2026 (pictured)

For as developed as Bishop England's defense got in a hurry last fall, the biggest spike to this program in going from a two-win squad in 2023 to last year's nine-win squad was the injection of firepower that came along with Mahoney's transfer into the program. Not only did he threw for 2,461 yards and 23 touchdowns while completing 56 percent of his passes; he also rushed for 469 yards and another nine scores. He's got 1,000-yard receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1575461' first='Zach' last='Balog'] back for another year and the tandem should have another huge season.

BLUFFTON BOBCATS

[player_tooltip player_id='1394988' first='Aedan' last='McCarthy'] QB, 2026

Much like Mahoney, McCarthy has a big frame and a huge arm to go along with it. What he also has is a top-notch target in [player_tooltip player_id='402486' first='Carnell' last='Warren'] and every bit of faith from a coaching staff that has no issue throwing the ball upwards of 40-plus times in a game. McCarthy threw for 2,524 yards and 29 touchdowns last fall against only six picks. He completed 60 percent of his passes and chalked up four games of at least 250 yards. He only threw one interception after Sept. 13, meaning the rhythm was really starting to pay dividends that longer he was the starting quarterback.

COLLETON COUNTY COUGARS

[player_tooltip player_id='1734414' first='Xavion' last='Green'] DL, 2026

If you're reading this story chronologically, you're starting to see how a pass rush might just be vital to any team's success in this region. Enter Green, who is among the most imposing players in the Lowcountry. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound defensive end has an 80.5-inch wing span and just enough of a burst off the snap to disrupt some of the passing onslaught that is expected to happen between these teams in October. Green's ceiling is still a bit unknown, but his size and experience makes him a game-changing type of edge rusher.

HILTON HEAD SEAHAWKS

[player_tooltip player_id='1603740' first='Thaddeus' last='Czarnecki'] LB/RB, 2027

As a sophomore, Czarnecki rushed for 794 yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging 8.7 yards per carry. He wasn't the Seahawks' starting tailback. Czarnecki also had 86 tackles and four tackles per loss for a squad with a senior linebacker who was playing lights out ball. So, if he could do all that while not being the focal point, we're thinking he's in line for an absolutely monster junior year while he takes on ever more responsibility. His production should turn a lot of heads.

MAY RIVER SHARKS

[player_tooltip player_id='1592214' first='Andrew' last='Johnson'] RB, 2026

When May River elected to shift its offense to the tight-knit run-based formula it used last fall, it required pieces to fit the mold. That's where Johnson did some work. He went from rushing for 100 yards total as a sophomore to a junior that averaged 105 yards per game. He finished the year with 1,158 yards and a team-best 16 touchdowns on the ground. Best yet, all that damage helped elevate the Sharks from a four-win squad to a nine-win team. The second act should be even better.
