The 2025 football season will be here before we know it.

Over the course of the next two months, teams will participate in workouts galore leading up to the start of preseason camp. And while the summer is sure to include mass transfers - thanks to the SCHSL's new policy - we have enough information to start making some educated assumptions about each team's likely MVP.

In Region VI-2A, we've got established stars who are ready to lead the way in 2025, not to mention a few up-and-comers ready to take their spot atop the mantle.

ACADEMIC MAGNET RAPTORS

[player_tooltip player_id='1811126' first='Cole' last='Ivey'] RB/DB, 2027

As far as dark horse standouts go, Ivey (pictured) both checks that box while also giving us every reason to believe he's an obvious choice to get every opportunity to impress. While he was limited to just two games last fall, how he was used in one of those games shows how much of a spark he can be for an offense that badly needs more. Against Baptist Hill last year, he had 45 rushing yards and 31 receiving yards while also returning three kickoffs for another 75 yards. He's about to be fed plenty in 2025.

ANDREWS YELLOW JACKETS

[player_tooltip player_id='1025808' first='Chris' last='Stewart'] DL, 2026

In another scenario, Stewart is a top-flight tight end target for any number of college programs. As it stands, the Elon commitment has shown some serious fire in the last year as a defensive end. As a junior, he led the Yellow Jackets in tackles (93), tackles for loss (31.5) and sacks (13.5). He also broke up four passes and recovered a pair of fumbles en route to all-state honors. He's still a likely budding H-Back prospect, but it only makes his case that much stronger.

BURKE BULLDOGS

[player_tooltip player_id='1809246' first='Horatio' last='Vice-Parson'] DL, 2027

The tenacious defensive end is a piece of Burke that will see his responsibilities increase significantly this fall. At times last year, he was the most effective player on the field, even when the Bulldogs continue to find themselves on the wrong side of the final score of many of their games. As a junior, Vice-Parson will instantly be looked upon as the anchor of the Burke four-man front. Recording 50 tackles before the Bulldogs reach October isn't out of the question.

PHILIP SIMMONS IRON HORSES

[player_tooltip player_id='1592547' first='Brody' last='Tonon'] LB/RB, 2026

Tonon isn't the flashiest player on the Iron Horses' roster. But he is arguably the most consistent Philip Simmons standout coming back for 2025. As a junior, he led the squad with 126 tackles and 12 tackles for loss. He also forced a fumble and recovered a couple more while knocking down three passes. Tack on 224 yards and four touchdowns rushing another 67 yards and a score receiving and his value only increases. His defensive numbers may very well dip, but make no mistake: This unit revolves around him.

TIMBERLAND WOLVES

[player_tooltip player_id='473011' first='Desmond' last='Green'] OL/DL, 2026

Take a look at different points of Green's dominant three-year career at Timberland and you'll see a player who has played all five spots on the line at different points of his run. Last fall, he was playing more guard to maximize the Wolves' interior attack. But it's not out of the question to see him at tackle or center when needed, either. Physically, there are few opponents who can hang with this strength. And when he gets his feet moving, he's that much more effective as a run blocker.

WOODLAND WOLVERINES

[player_tooltip player_id='1592194' first='Jaemin' last='Pinckney'] DL/LB, 2026

Since coming to Woodland as a 6-foot-2 freshman, Pinckney has continued to expand on his capabilities. He's now 6-foot-4, and while he's still a lean-looking 190 pounds, he's found new ways to make his size really count. In line with that, he's drawn eight college offers in the last two months alone and has the type of diversity at the next level that makes him such an enticing recruit. In the meantime, he's a dynamic defender whom opposing coordinators have no choice but to game plan for every Friday night this fall.
