All that's between us and another high school football season is a summer of conditioning and a few preseason jamborees. It's never too early for us to be looking ahead and we're going to do just that as well dissect who the MVP might be for each team in the state.

Here we look at Region V-4A. We've picked who we think will be every team's MVP this coming fall.

CRESTWOOD KNIGHTS

[player_tooltip player_id='1467823' first='Jayden' last='Martin'] Ath, 2028

Martin did a little bit of everything for the Knights last season as a freshman, and it might be more of the same this year. He mainly played receiver on offense and was the second-leading receiver on the team with 22 catches for 307 yards. He also took snaps at quarterback and defensive back along with being a huge part of the return game. Martin is in line for breakout season in 2025.

DARLINGTON FALCONS

[player_tooltip player_id='1395094' first='Jaylen' last='Augustus'] QB, 2026

Augustus is a true dual threat as he accounted for nearly 1,300 yards rushing and just under 1,000 yards passing last season while accounting for 15 touchdowns. Augustus looked poised and confident this offseason when we've seen him throw in Combine settings. He's 6-foot-3 and 170 pounds and has a strong arm that can make all the throws. He also throws a nice deep ball and will be a huge weapon as the Falcons look to improve on last year's .500 record.

HARSTVILLE RED FOXES

[player_tooltip player_id='1639746' first='Chris' last='Price'] DE, 2026

Price is 6-foot-3, 275 and explosive off the line of scrimmage. He's been a two-way starter for the Red Foxes, and he's gained significant strength and size this offseason. Plus, he's healthy and that should see his number increase in 2025.Hartsville is loaded with players that could have taken this honor, but Price is poised to take another step in his final prep season.

LAKEWOOD GATORS

[player_tooltip player_id='1664627' first='Keytrelle' last='Griffin'] OT, 2027

Griffin is a dominating performer along the line of scrimmage for the Gators. He's a mauler and once he gets his hands on a defender the play is ultimately over for the defensive player. He's 6-foot-3, 335 pounds but he's nimble and quick off the ball. He's only going to be a junior and has great projection for the next.

LOWER RICHLAND DIAMOND HORNETS

[player_tooltip player_id='1267324' first='Ophir' last='Hill'] LB, 2026

Hill will be a multi-year starter, and he's turned into the quarterback of the Diamond Hornets defense. He knows where everyone is supposed to lineup and what their assignments should be so he's another coach on the field. He finished with 70 tackles last season and could see that number reach triple digits this season for a revamped Lower Richland defense.

SOUTH FLORENCE BRUINS
[player_tooltip player_id='1166986' first='Messiah' last='Jackson'] QB, 2026

Anytime a state-championship winning quarterback returns, he's going to be a vocal point of the attack and Jackson is no different. As a junior, Jackson (pictured) threw for 2,080 yards and 30 touchdowns and grew more confidence each and every week. The Bruins are loaded again, and we could have picked a number of players for this honor but feel like Jackson is ready to take the next step to be an elite quarterback in the 2026 Class.

WILSON TIGERS

[player_tooltip player_id='1395075' first='Zion' last='Mack'] DB/WR, 2026

Mack is a huge presence in the secondary at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds and can go up and get the ball at its high point as a receiver or defensive back. He's a great route runner and catches the ball away from his body. He uses a physical style on both sides of the ball and doesn't mind blocking or helping with run support.
