It's getting into the dog days of summer down in HTX. With the turf getting hotter by the day, cleats better be moving fast. And that shouldn't be an issue for at least one position group in the area. Between power, speed, and all-purpose, there is no shortage of running back talent throughout all classes of Space City. Here are some of the studs that should see huge production this season.

Tramble is a dynamic thousand-yard rusher running around and through Texas 6A defenses. He displays loose hips and a great hop cut as he bursts through the line of scrimmage. Tramble excels at putting his foot in the ground and accelerating through the second level, showcasing his 4.4 speed. With elite speed and change of direction already, Tramble will continue to refine his pad level and running style, which should lead to a massive senior season. The shifty back has all the raw attributes needed to be a national RB prospect, and I expect him to take that leap this summer. Tramble's offer list includes SMU, Kansas State, and Arizona.

Switching up the style a bit, Garrett is a 6'2 bruiser of a running back with great contact balance and break tackle ability. The power back out of Katy rushed for over 300 yards and added a few impressive receptions as a junior in 2024. Expect these numbers to skyrocket this season as Garrett should see a heavier workload and more opportunities for dynamic plays. Even with the giant frame, Javion demonstrates good burst through the line of scrimmage and uses his vision and patience to set up his blocks. And for those who aren't blocked, he takes care of them with stiff arms and truck sticks. Garrett should experience a major breakout in 2025, building upon his current offers, which include Cal, Memphis, and Wyoming.

Willis is a lightning bolt out of the backfield with stellar burst and twitch. The Shadow Creek rising star fires out of a cannon and sustains elite top-end speed into the second level. Willis displays the strong pad level and contact balance needed to run between the tackles, along with solid change of direction and good acceleration to get outside and down the sideline. He also possesses good ball skills and athleticism, which lead to success in the passing game and even the occasional hurdle. Willis had an explosive sophomore campaign, compiling nearly one thousand total yards and 14 total touchdowns. A massive season should be in store for Willis and the powerhouse Sharks in 2025. Tristan holds nearly 20 offers from schools such as Texas Tech, TCU, and Mizzou.

A phenom of a true all-purpose back, Rhodes already amassed over one thousand total yards as a freshman. The young star has all the traits and physical tools needed to produce in the coming years and at the next level. Rhodes possesses a unique combo of power and patience with great overall speed to back it up. He constantly shed lower-body tackles, displaying strong contact balance and good footwork. Rhodes was also a difference maker in the receiving and pass protection game as a freshman. Everything is in front of the number one player in the state, and the scary thing is he still has some raw abilities to sharpen. Expect Micah to make a push at the top running back in the country title as he heads into his sophomore year. Rhodes already holds a long list of offers, which includes Texas, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

While far from the biggest, Mitchell may be the most dynamic player in the entire 2028 class. A true blazer, the offensive gadget breaks off runs with his 10.17 (!!!) 100m speed. Mitchell was able to produce over 1,400 total yards and 26 total touchdowns, providing value in the run, pass, and return game. While burst and speed are his best attributes, "Superman", as he calls himself, also displays great change of direction and surprising physicality to break tackles. As long as Mitchell keeps filling out his frame, which is sure to grow, the sky is the limit electric back. His college recruitment is steadily growing, as he's already received offers from major programs such as Georgia, Florida, and Texas Tech.
