2027 Rankings Update- Who's Dominating The Trenches?

With our new 2027 Rankings Update dropping this week, it's only right that we look towards the trenches and watch some of our top DL prospects here in Alabama!   We were super impressed watching these guys film – they have so much talent and potential at the next level, it'll be exciting watching them in their junior seasons this fall.   As always, make sure you watch some of their tape below!    [player_tooltip player_id='1537323' first='Donivan' last='Moore'] is a dominant piece of Hueytown's defensive front who's coming in as our #3 DL in the class, and #8 player in the state.   "At 6'4 280, Moore is explosive in every sense of the word- he has a terrific burst off the line of scrimmage, is quick and powerful, and constantly finds ways to get into the backfield and come up with huge stops.   Moore completely overwhelms OL in the trenches- he has a ton of different moves he uses to win at the line of scrimmage, consistently clogging rushing lanes to stop the run, and generating tons of pressure on passing downs. Moore is also really impressive in pursuit- he moves incredibly well at his size and consistently hunts down the ball carrier to come up with hustle plays."   Moore lists offers from Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and many other national powerhouses. He's a dominant player with a huge season ahead of him, just watch.   Check out some of Moore's film from last season:      [player_tooltip player_id='1225913' first='Karlos' last='May'] is an impressive DL out of Ramsay who is currently our #4 DL and #21 player in the state.   "May is a relentless pass rusher with tons of potential- he has great size and speed he uses to completely overwhelm opposing OL, fighting off double teams (sometimes even triple) to get to the QB and make plays. It's impressive watching May rush the passer- more often than not, Ramsay only rushes 3 and still can produce tons of pressure/sacks in the backfield with how dominant May is upfront.   May is also a terrific run defender. He completely closes up rushing lanes by himself, generating great penetration on the LOS and taking down the ball carrier for little to no gain every time offenses run the ball his way."   May lists offers from Western Kentucky, Alabama State, UT Martin, and more. Watch out for him this fall, I think he'll have a huge year for his defense.   Check out some of his film below:      [player_tooltip player_id='1610204' first='Jamaine' last='Lewis'] is another dominant DL out of Hueytown who is now our #8 DL and our #43 prospect in the state.   "Lewis is a big dude who plays with some really impressive speed, he causes problems down the line of scrimmage and makes offenses work to do anything against him. Lewis has excellent pursuit skills, he makes some highlight reel sideline-to-sideline plays- it's seriously impressive watching him hunt down the ball carrier at his size.   Lewis is also terrific at holding his own in the trenches- he fights off blocks and completely dominates the OL across from him, consistently generating great penetration on the LOS. Lewis might be one of the top run defenders in our 2027 class, he causes offenses so much trouble with how well he controls and demolishes the line."   Throughout this offseason, Lewis has picked up offers from Troy, South Carolina, Jacksonville State, and more.   Lewis has some great film you can watch below:      [player_tooltip player_id='1610201' first='Marcus' last='Muse'] is a talented DL out of Central Tuscaloosa who is coming in as our #9 DL and #51 player in the state.   "At 6'3 275, Muse has great size, speed, and strength that he uses to dominate the line of scrimmage. Muse is excellent at fighting off blockers to come up with huge stops- he's really quick, has a ton of power, and works his way around OL to make plays behind the line of scrimmage.   Muse is also terrific in pursuit- he has a high motor, plays with a ton of effort, and will work across the field to make hustle plays."   Muse dominated all last season for Central Tuscaloosa, ending his sophomore year with 48 total tackles (19 solo, one for loss) and one FF.   Check out some of his film from last season:      [player_tooltip player_id='1631151' first='Courtney' last='Acoff'] is our #10 DL in the class, he's been huge for Bessemer City's defensive front and has a huge season ahead this all.   "Acoff is a dominant force on the interior- he explodes off the line, is incredibly powerful, and gets great penetration every snap- causing tons of problems for offensive lines. Acoff is terrific against the run- he fights off blockers really well and uses his size to clog up rushing lanes and to reach and make huge tackles for loss in the backfield.   Acoff is just as productive against the pass- he opens up opportunities for his teammates with how much attention he demands on the interior and can consistently collapse the pocket and come up with big plays on QBs."   Acoff was a force to be reckoned with last fall, ending his sophomore season with 63 total tackles (9 for loss), 3 sacks, and one fumble recovery.
