The seven teams slated to particpate in Wednesday's Berkeley County Showcase at Stratford all have something to prove.

The players from those seven squads are simultaneously attempting to improve their stock before heading into the summer workouts, 7-on-7s and preseason camp. This showcase should help do the trick.

With college scouts in attendance, there are players to watch intently, and not just from the three Class 5A programs. Here's a blue-print to the three-session event.

SESSION 1 (3:15 p.m.): Berkeley/Hanahan/Goose Creek

Top players: Berkeley - QB [player_tooltip player_id='1036733' first='Henry' last='Rivers'] LB [player_tooltip player_id='1165076' first='Marcus' last='Henderson'] LB [player_tooltip player_id='1639678' first='Gehad' last='Sneed'] OL [player_tooltip player_id='1267220' first='Zion' last='Britt'] Hanahan - ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1165104' first='Julius' last='Hippenstiel'] QB [player_tooltip player_id='1615084' first='Tripp' last='Gallus'] WR [player_tooltip player_id='1732659' first='Bo' last='Brabham'] LB Josh Amara Goose Creek - RB [player_tooltip player_id='473027' first='Meliq' last='McGowan'] (pictured) DL [player_tooltip player_id='402500' first='Malachi' last='Washington'] OL [player_tooltip player_id='1732656' first='Zion' last='Richardson'] DB Julian Whitfield

Recruiting watch: The young starters on all three teams could start to see more movement with their recruitment. [player_tooltip player_id='1016577' first='Elijah' last='Mitchell'] (WR, Berkeley), [player_tooltip player_id='1615084' first='Tripp' last='Gallus'] (QB, Hanahan) and [player_tooltip player_id='1051659' first='Hayden' last='Denmark'] (LB, Goose Creek) each have the physical tools already as 2028s that should draw some attention.

Keep and eye on … : With all signs pointing to [player_tooltip player_id='1036733' first='Henry' last='Rivers'] not being available yet, Berkeley will turn to tailback [player_tooltip player_id='1151306' first='Bryson' last='McGee'] at quarterback for the session. That's important, since the Stags have every intention of keeping their passing game flourishing after losing their top three receivers from last fall.

SESSION 2 (4:15 p.m.): Stratford/Philip Simmons

Top players: Stratford - QB [player_tooltip player_id='1165148' first='Jachin' last='Davis'] OL [player_tooltip player_id='1399623' first='TJ' last='Bryant'] OL [player_tooltip player_id='1267289' first='Jameson' last='Pelham'] WR [player_tooltip player_id='1592357' first='J'Qwan' last='Crosby'] Philip Simmons - LB/RB [player_tooltip player_id='1592547' first='Brody' last='Tonon'] LB [player_tooltip player_id='1592627' first='Ethan' last='Chisum'] TE [player_tooltip player_id='1167204' first='William' last='Hollifield'] DL [player_tooltip player_id='1639793' first='Jayquan' last='Shephard']

Recruiting watch: This session in particular could draw a lot of eye balls given all the length on the field. That list begins with Knights' 2028 defensive end [player_tooltip player_id='1615105' first='Kermit' last='Davis'] (6-foot-2, 210 pounds). He's just a freshman, and after his performance at the Carolinas Coaches Combines, it stands to reason some early offers are going to start chasing his size.

Keep and eye on … : The Iron Horses have had just two primary starting quarterbacks over the last seven seasons, and now the race to replace [player_tooltip player_id='502413' first='Tavien' last='Orellana'] is a full-go. Varsity back-up Hayes Goddard and 2024 JV starter Maurico Curry are both going to get reps Wednesday to give the staff another lithmus test with fans in attendance.

SESSION 3 (5:15 p.m.): Cross/Timberland

Top players: Cross - DB/WR [player_tooltip player_id='473021' first='Caden' last='Ramsey'] DL [player_tooltip player_id='1639807' first='Michael' last='Bennett'] LB [player_tooltip player_id='1639766' first='William' last='Grant'] RB Mah'Ky Green DL [player_tooltip player_id='1422604' first='Jailyn' last='Broughton'] Timberland - OL [player_tooltip player_id='473011' first='Desmond' last='Green'] QB Malyk Goodman RB Montez Anderson

Recruiting watch: This will be Green's first real public action as the Trojans' starting tailback after waiting patiently the last two years. He's a 22-mile-per-hour player already who averaged 8.8 yards per carry last fall en route to another 794 rushing yards before he was the starter. He could use Wednesday to turn some heads from expected college recruiters on campus for the event.

Keep and eye on … : While Cross has done well with Ramsey's size, Timberland has a similarly framed player in the Class of 2028. Receiver Jordan Gorham is a match-up problem waiting to happen. He's listed at 6-foot-4 and can high-point just about any ball against your traditional high school defensive back.
