We released the updated 2027 prospect rankings on Tuesday. Here are five of the Fastest Stock Risers:

[player_tooltip player_id='1606138' first='Amryn' last='Wheeler'], Hobbs: The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Wheeler emerged last season as one of the top defensive ends in southern New Mexico. Wheeler made 50 tackles, 9.0 TFL and an impressive 19 QB hurries. He knows how to wreak havoc in opposing backfields. Wheeler will be key cog in what should be a talented Hobbs D-Line in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1606150' first='Christopher' last='Baxter'], Jal: The 6-foot-1, 240-pound Baxter possesses impressive size for a rising junior and a knack for finding the guy with the football in his hands. He enjoyed a solid sophomore campaign with 40 tackles, 3.0 TFL and 2.0 sacks. Jal looks to get back on track after struggling in 2024. The D-Line should be exemplary with Baxter and [player_tooltip player_id='1600122' first='David' last='Gaytan'] (153 tackles in 2024).

Nathan Cereceres, Alamogordo: Alamogordo could be one of the most improved teams in Class 6A this season and Cereceres figures to have an integral role. The Tigers coaching staff plans to utilize Cereceres on both sides of the ball – RB, DB and OLB. Last season he made 55 tackles as a sophomore, solidifying his status as a playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id='1606048' first='Xander' last='Chavez'], Legacy Academy: Legacy Academy enjoyed a highly successful first season in 11-man football as Chavez emerged as one of the top defensive players in Class 2A. He led the Silverbacks in tackles with 82 and added 10 QB hurries and 3.0 sacks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1272752' first='J'ven' last='Smith'], Atrisco Heritage: Smith is one of the top young receivers in the Albuquerque Metro Region. He led the Jaguars in receptions in 2024 (35), combining with [player_tooltip player_id='1155114' first='Deon' last='Session'] for 61 catches for over 1,100 yards and 11 TD. Both are rising juniors.
