This word has been on my mind a ton lately: anticipation.

The definition of the word anticipation is the action of anticipating something, expectation, or prediction.

No, I have not been binge-watching the cult film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” but I have been shaking with anticipation.

First off, I am a new purveyor of the arts, and every time I commission a new painting, I quake with anticipation to see updates of the progress of each piece and then the arrival of it to its future home.

I have also been anticipating the spring combine and clinic season like never before. Over the next three months, I have current plans to attend more than a dozen football, volleyball, and girls' basketball events.

Being in that current frame of mind, it only seems appropriate to feature another group of football players I expect to see in the upcoming months.

This group includes six athletes currently unranked by Prep Redzone Kansas.

Profiles for all six athletes have been created at Prep Redzone.

Athletes are encouraged to claim their Prep Redzone profiles by using the following link https://prepredzone.com/prospect-index/

[player_tooltip player_id='1658726' first='Braylon' last='Meyn'], ATH, 6'2”, 180, Hanover, ‘26

Meyn is scheduled to attend the testing camp at Nemaha Central High School. He is a young multi-sport prospect that I have yet to see compete in person. Last season, the Wildcats did not post public stats, but the year before, he did a little bit of everything for the offensive unit, rushing for 126 yards, throwing for 109, and catching 24 balls for 270 yards. As a junior, he averaged 16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game for the Hanover basketball squad. He also competes in track and field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664427' first='Jackson' last='Rood'], WR, 5'11”, 165, Baldwin, ‘26

Baldwin's Rood will take advantage of the local camp at Baker University. He is an elusive wideout who can also return kicks. I watched highlights from his junior season and was impressed with his route running. He has reliable hands and can create matchup problems lining up in the slot.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664428' first='DeZavion' last='Hollinger'], DB, 5'10”, 155, Shawnee Mission South, ‘26

Hollinger is a talented defensive back. He has excellent flexibility in his hips and can turn on a dime. He is registered for the Baker Camp. During his junior season, he recorded 42 tackles, 16 pass breakups, and forced one fumble. He has nice closing speed and strong arms to wrap up ball carriers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633264' first='Daylan' last='Mzhickteno'], RB/LB, 5'7”, 175, Wabaunsee, ‘26

The Chargers athlete is expected to attend Baker's camp in Baldwin. He is a gifted linebacker, and the defensive side of the ball is where I see his future being on. He collected 76 tackles as a junior. He has a nose for the football and can be a playmaker on defense. He carried the ball 31 times last season, caught four balls, and scored three total touchdowns. He has also returned kicks for Wabaunsee.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664439' first='Cooper' last='Bruna'], RB/LB, 5'10”, 170, Hanover, ‘28

The Chargers athlete is expected to attend Baker's camp in Baldwin. Bruna is a young athlete who had an impact on special teams in his freshman season. The majority of his highlights from last season came while making plays on the kickoff unit. He moves well in the open field and is an aggressive tackler. He is also a basketball prospect who scored 7.7 points per game as a freshman on the basketball court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664441' first='Zayvion' last='Hayslett'], DE/TE, 5'11”, 164, KC-Washington, ‘28

Hayslett has the makings of being a skilled edge rusher. He is all arms and legs and gets off the ball quickly. He saw action in nine games last season and recorded 35 total tackles, including an eye-popping 18 tackles for lost yardage. He also collected 11 quarterback sacks and 12 quarterback hurries. He currenlty does not have any measurables listed on his HUDL or X Accounts, so the Baker Camp will be a great place for him to show off his skills.
