SMAC Underclassmen Showcase: Top Performers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last weekend I was down at the SMAC Showcase at Leonardtown HS. It comprised of mainly players out of Southern MD looking to put their skills on display to a multitude of college coaches on hand to watch. Transferring to Patuxent HS after playing his Junior year at St. Mary's Ryken, Teagan is a massive OL at 6'5" 290lbs. Able to play anywhere along the offensive line, he offers plenty of versatility making him an attractive prospect to college coaches. Teagan is a big body who is light on his feet. Moves well laterally and shows an impressive kick step in pass pro. Strong and powerful, he gets a nice initial punch and plays with nasty finishing blocks and burying defenders. He showed really well in 1v1s, holding his ground with good balance in his base and not letting anyone past him. He had an excellent day in the 1v1s showcasing an impressive first step burst and slip-ability. Tyler flashed wonderful hand work against OL he went up against. Able to slap away and rip through, getting skinny with quickness and athleticism. He won rep after rep and everyone there took notice. Playing mostly at RB last fall, Noah has been working on his DB technique and it showed last Saturday. He displayed smooth hips and quick transitions. With good balance in his back-pedal, Noah can drop his weight and burst out out of his breaks. He also possesses very nice ball skills, able to go up and attack it at the highest point. As well as having natural hands and good body control leading to some impressive plays on the ball. Smooth in the pocket with nice footwork and overall mechanics, Blake was completing pretty passes over all 3 levels of the field. He can put wonderful touch on the ball and drop it in a bucket to his WR, or gets good zip when need to deliver a strike the receiver in stride. A good overall athlete as well, Blake is a dual threat QB making him a complete QB threat. A nice overall athlete, he is also a stand out basketball player for Potomac School. You see that bball skill set translate to the field in his ability to changes speeds and directions quickly. He stems his routes, can start &amp; stop quickly, and can drop his weight to make strong cuts. Akim also showed strong hands all day long. Catches the ball away from his body, he reaches out and snatches the ball out of the air, creating space from the defender trying to get a hand on the pass. Akim will also go up and make the spectacular catch, again showing of his strong hands and good ball skills he will go above and over defenders to make the catch.
