Often times the biggest leap student-athletes make in terms of development occurs between their freshman and sophomore seasons. The game slows down and the production spikes when they're 10th-graders.

There's potential for Murdock to make a name for himself in 2025 after getting his feet wet as a freshman last season. When we hit play on his ninth-grade highlight video, a ballplayer with intriguing skills appears. As a quarterback, he shows easy arm strength. Murdock gets the ball out quickly with zip. There's accuracy on intermediate and deep throws with him trusting his receivers to make plays. Murdock prefers to sling it from the pocket, but he can move and deliver off schedule. He threw for eight touchdowns, ran for three scores and caught a TD last year. Murdock recorded 23.5 tackles (15) solo as a defensive back.

Impacting play on both sides of the ball as a freshman, Brown could be in for a rise to stardom in 2025. He caught 24 passes for 442 yards and six touchdowns in his first varsity campaign. He added 16 tackles (8 solo, 1.0 TFL) and picked off four passes. Brown also returned punts and kicks. He operates out of the slot as a receiver and is suited to be a slot corner or safety on defense. He shows off his well-rounded skill set during his ninth-grade video highlights. Brown runs crisp routes and uses his size to his advantage as a pass catcher. He changes directions well and reads the ball keenly in coverage.

As the Mustangs' No. 2 running back last season, Buttry scooted for 299 yards (5.6 YPC) and three touchdowns. He added 14 receptions for 282 yards and a pair of scores. On defense, he contributed 29.0 tackles (24 solo) and an interception. Buttry also served as one of the team's main returners. That's a lot of responsibility for a ninth-grader, foreshadowing what could be a super sophomore campaign and beyond. When watching highlight's on Buttry's Hudl page, we see a versatile athlete that's comfortable in multiple roles. Those traits can be attributed to his athleticism and speed. Buttry is one to watch in 2025.

Winquist's Hudl page contains a limited number of clips from his freshman season. What we do see is a powerful defensive tackle that plays with optimal pad level and leg drive. He's quick off of the snap and gets O-Linemen on their heels. The plays on his Hudl are against three of the Eagles' top opponents in OABCIG, West Lyon and Woodbury Central. In them, he delivers two tackles for loss and blocks a field-goal attempt. He finished the season with 5.0 TFLs, 1.5 sacks and eight solo stops. Not bad for a ninth-grader on varsity. Expect a leap forward in play and production in 2025.

Blanshan only scratched the surface of his sizable upside during his freshman campaign last season. He contributed 19.0 tackles (14 solo, 3.0 TFL) and a sack on the varsity. When we check out his ninth-grade highlight video, Blanshan flashes his high ceiling. Working on the inside of the second level, he diagnoses plays quickly and flies to the football. Blanshan operates under control with balance within the defensive scheme. There's discipline at a young age, which is usually a good sign for the future.

Baron found ways to contribute all around the field has a Mustang freshman in 2024. He rushed for a touchdown, caught a score, racked up 3.0 tackles for loss and returned 12 kicks. Baron also served as the team's backup quarterback behind a senior starter. Baron's ninth-grade highlight video reveals the versatility that gives him potential at multiple positions. The first clip shows him delivering a key block during a teammate's long run. The next two plays display him making defenders miss in the open field. On the fourth clip, he supports the run from his linebacker spot, breaking on the rusher and causing a fumble. Baron has the look of a breakout player for this upcoming campaign.
