Holy Angels’ 6’4, 230 lb. DE Daniel Devine commits to NDSU

Recruiting can be a family affair, and when playing the always-thrilling game of "who is going to commit to where?", it's important to recognize the significance of family members wanting to play together in college. In that vein, it isn't surprising that the North Dakota State have made another splash in the Minnesota 2026 class by landing Holy Angels' well-built, physical two-way starter

, a projected defensive end who measures in at 6'4, 225+ pounds with room to grow. The younger brother of 2025 linebacker commit Damian Devine - one of Minnesota's top performers from the 2024 season - younger brother Daniel turned down offers from the likes of South Dakota State, Kent State, and Cornell University, as well as the chance to go earn some money on his junior year offseason's summer camp circuit, by shutting things down and committing to NDSU's growing 2026 class, now sitting at nine commits strong. A fun combination of speed, power, and physicality, 6'4, 225 lber. Devine posted 13 TFLs, an INT, and a blocked kick for a TD in 2024 as a junior, getting college programs excited about his two-way versatility and splash play ability, but despite the P4, Missouri Valley, and Ivy League recruiting attention, Devine told PRzMN that, "The Bison won me over in many different ways. The relationships with the coaches and staff made NDSU feel like the right place for me from the beginning. The winning culture at NDSU drew me in right away and the tradition is unlike any other." Culture speaks volumes on the recruiting trail, as does relationships, and Devine mentioned that, "I like the connection I was able to build with the staff from the moment I stepped on campus. The program has a strong history of winning that l'm excited to be apart of. I cant wait to be able to play for the Bison fans and community."
Projected to one of the two DE spots in the Bison's 4-3 defensive scheme, Devine is expecting a fun senior season with his AHA teammates, stating to PRzMN that, "I 'm really looking forward to the 2025 season for AHA. We have a lot of returning talent and are looking to make a run in state." However, the 225 lber. can't help but look forward to the future and reuniting with his brother in Fargo. Devine told us that, "I feel really blessed to be able to continue playing football in college with my brother especially at such a great program and high level. After he committed to NDSU playing with him has been my goal and this played a major part in my commitment to NDSU." Bloodlines, a winning culture, relationships with the coaching staff, that's a triple threat. To add some spice to the MVFC rivalry, Devine left us by stating that, "I'm most excited to play SDSU because of the history of the rivalry and those games are always intense." Never too early for the rivalry; I hope our #Bison fans reading this enjoyed getting to know their future DE standout. Roll Herd!
